Completed. We're not touching anything still airing. This site is a history and preservation project, not a running commentary track. A show needs to actually be over, licensing settled, fansub era done and dusted, before there's a real story to tell about it. Ongoing shows don't have that story yet, they just have a Wikipedia page and vibes.
Impactful. Not "I personally like this a lot," impactful. Did it move the needle somewhere? Did it define an era, spark a licensing fight worth documenting, build a fansub scene with an actual story behind it, change how a genre got made or watched in the West? We're not covering every mid show that existed, we're covering the ones that mattered to how anime actually got here.
1990 to 2010, ideally. That's not a hard wall, we've made exceptions, but it's the sweet spot. Early enough that there's real VHS-trading, fansub-group, license-drama history to dig up. Late enough that digital scanlation and BitTorrent fansubbing were actually a thing worth documenting. Post-2010 stuff mostly just streamed day one and skipped the whole chaotic middle part this site cares about.
So when you request something, do us a favor and make the case. Not just "add X," but why. What's the actual history there? Was there a fansub war? A scanlation group that got shut down mid-run? A licensing mess worth untangling? The requests that come with a hook are the ones that actually turn into pages. The ones that are just a title with no context sit at the bottom of the pile forever.
