Returned from Vacation(?)
So... I Haven't Posted in a Week
Apparently disappearing from the front page for a week does not mean I stopped working on AnimeHistory.Quite the opposite. The newest additions include Yu Yu Hakusho, Cardcaptor Sakura, Patlabor: The TV Series, The Vision of Escaflowne, Outlaw Star, Record of Lodoss War, Serial Experiments Lain, Dragon Half, Video Girl Ai, Ah! My Goddess and Bas.tard!!.
And I don't really want AnimeHistory to become one of those databases where adding a series just means creating a title page and calling it finished.
A lot of these are already being worked into the archive properly. The automated Lore interlinking system is also now working.
It is intentionally a little aggressive. I'd rather have to remove a few links during review than discover six months from now that two obviously related parts of the archive were never connected at all.
The Gallery Has Been Busy Too
Video Girl Ai, Dragon Half, Ah! My Goddess and Cardcaptor Sakura now have complete episode-by-episode screencap sets in the gallery. At this point the AnimeHistory gallery is sitting somewhere around 670,000 images, which is a number I probably should not stare at for too long.Cardcaptor Sakura still needs some gallery cleanup, and adding the images is really only the first half of the job. Character tagging, captions, corrections and curation are what eventually turn all of those images into something genuinely useful.
Which brings me to something I'm seriously considering:
Elsewhere Around the Site
The Hub has been redesigned again, the Who's Online system finally behaves like the wonderfully unnecessary 2005 feature I insist on having, and the Follow an Anime / Archive Updates system continues to grow into what I originally wanted it to be: a way to actually see the archive changing over time.There is still a lot to do.
Several of the new anime need much deeper episode review. Character profiles need checking. Lore needs accuracy passes and interlinking. Fansub histories are nowhere near finished. Cardcaptor Sakura's gallery needs cleanup. The member-facing Gallery and Hub both still need more work. And somewhere during all of this, people actually started joining. So if the front page looked a little quiet this week, that's why.
I was apparently busy adding eleven anime and several tens of thousands of pictures instead. 😛
Back to work.
