Tomoyo discovers Sakura's secret and reacts with delight rather than fear, immediately deciding that magical adventures require custom costumes and a video camera. When desks and school equipment begin moving by themselves at night, Sakura traces the disturbance to the Shadow Card. With Tomoyo now firmly beside her, Sakura begins accepting the role she tried to dismiss as an accident.
An aquarium field trip turns dangerous when an unseen force drags a trainer and a penguin underwater, and Sakura soon realizes the Watery Card is loose. A later outing with Yukito brings her back to the aquarium just as Watery attacks again. Unable to overpower it directly, Sakura uses the building's freezer to trap the card long enough to seal it.
Sakura finds the Wood and Rain Cards while cleaning the house but forgets that simply finding a Clow Card does not make it harmless. Their quiet visits revolve around memories of a granddaughter Sakura assumes died long ago. Before leaving, Sakura uses Rain to create a rainbow for him, and the audience learns that the granddaughter he has been remembering is Sakura's mother Nadeshiko.
A seaside school trip becomes genuinely frightening when students begin disappearing during a test of courage inside a cave. Sakura and Syaoran are the last two left, and Syaoran identifies the Erase Card before he vanishes as well. Sakura pushes through her fear and captures Erase alone, restoring everyone the card removed.
Sakura visits a summer festival with Toya, Yukito and her friends, hoping for rare time alone with Yukito. At Tsukimine Shrine, glowing lights begin drifting through the trees exactly like something Sakura has seen in a dream. The beautiful display turns out to be the Glow Card, which Sakura quietly captures before returning to the festival.
With summer vacation almost over, Sakura still has a book report to finish and heads to the library for the one book she needs. The Move Card keeps teleporting the book away from both Sakura and Syaoran, turning homework into another chase. After they capture Move and fall into the river, Syaoran takes Sakura and Tomoyo home where his cousin Meiling suddenly arrives from Hong Kong.

Sakura discovers the Song Card is copying the most beautiful voice it has heard but refuses to appear on command. Tomoyo sings on the roof to draw it out, letting Sakura capture Song after it joins her performance.
The Little Card shrinks Sakura to only a few inches tall and weakens her magic at the same time. Suddenly her own backyard is enormous, the family cat is a predator, and even getting Tomoyo's attention becomes difficult. Sakura finally makes contact with Little again, regains her normal size, and seals the card before it can shrink anyone else.
People around Tomoeda begin blaming Sakura for acts she knows she did not commit, and she eventually sees another Sakura moving through town. The Mirror Card has copied her appearance and turns its attention toward Toya, luring him into danger. Sakura identifies Mirror by name and captures it, but the card's remorse after Toya treats it kindly makes this encounter unusually personal.
Kaho Mizuki becomes Sakura's substitute teacher and immediately unsettles Syaoran, who senses tremendous magical power around her. At Tsukimine Shrine, Sakura and her friends are trapped inside the Maze Card and cannot find an exit. Mizuki breaks through the maze with a mysterious bell, helping Sakura capture the card while raising even more questions about who she really is.
Sakura learns that Toya and Kaho Mizuki knew each other years ago and follows another magical disturbance back to Tsukimine Shrine. The Return Card pulls her into the past, where she witnesses Toya and Mizuki's relationship before Mizuki left Japan. Syaoran spends enormous magical energy helping Sakura return to the present, and her grateful hug leaves him completely overwhelmed.
Collectible fortune cards become popular at Twin Bells, but Meiling accidentally buys the real Shot Card while searching for a charm that might help her romance with Syaoran. Shot targets Syaoran and turns a harmless shopping craze into a lethal attack. Sakura uses Mirror to reflect the assault back and weakens Shot enough to capture it.
Sakura's class bakes cakes for home economics, but every batch comes out impossibly sweet despite careful measurements. Sakura and Syaoran discover the Sweet Card transforming the entire kitchen into candy and desserts. Salt temporarily stops the card, allowing Sakura to seal it and finally finish a cake worth giving to Yukito.
The Dash Card escapes Sakura while injured and is taken in by a track athlete named Rei, rewarding her kindness by making her faster. Sakura hesitates to separate them because the bond seems genuine, but leaving Dash with Rei would make every race unfair. Their attempts at imitation are terrible, and Sakura eventually restores them after twenty-four extremely embarrassing hours.
A class skating trip becomes dangerous when the rink freezes over and almost everyone is trapped in ice. Sakura, Syaoran and the unseen Mizuki remain conscious because of their magical power. Syaoran helps force the Freeze Card into the open so Sakura can seal it, and the card goes to him because his strategy made the capture possible.
Sakura and Yukito enter a two-person quiz rally together, giving Sakura an entire day beside the person she adores. Mizuki warns them about the full moon, and later Sakura becomes strangely dazed near a cliff and nearly falls. Yukito is hurt protecting her, while Mizuki's warning adds another ominous piece to the mystery surrounding Sakura's recurring dreams.
Sakura invites Yukito to an amusement park on Christmas, which is also his birthday, hoping to give him a handmade present. The Firey Card erupts in the middle of the park and forces Sakura and Syaoran into one of their biggest battles yet. Capturing Firey restores part of Kero's true power, and Sakura finally gives Yukito the doll she made for him.
Sakura begins fifth grade just as an impossible spring blizzard buries Tomoeda in snow. The Snow Card steals a watch Yukito gave her, pushing Sakura past caution and into using Firey at full strength to melt the storm. She captures Snow, only to meet Mizuki afterward holding the supposedly lost watch.
Tomoyo loses her voice just before she is supposed to sing with the school choir, and Sakura discovers the Voice Card has stolen it. Directly chasing Voice gets nowhere because the card wants a beautiful voice to imitate. Syaoran proposes using Song as bait, allowing Sakura to lure Voice out and return Tomoyo's singing voice in time for the performance.
A class trip to a strawberry farm traps Sakura, Tomoyo, Syaoran and Meiling inside a study room that no one can enter or leave. Mizuki silently hints that Sakura's Clow Key may solve the problem. Sakura uses it to open the sealed room and captures the Lock Card responsible for trapping them.
Sakura refuses to stay home despite a high fever and nearly collapses at school before Toya brings her back. When she senses the Cloud Card, she leaves Mirror in her place and goes out anyway, despite Syaoran and Meiling scolding her recklessness. Sakura catches Cloud and returns home exhausted, where the spirit of Nadeshiko appears beside her once more.
A trip to Tokyo Tower pulls Sakura into the Dream Card's vision, where comedy gives way to images of the Final Judgment she has been seeing for months. The dream shows her a frightening future but also reminds her of everything she has already survived. Syaoran stops Dream's power with Time, allowing Sakura to capture it, though the card belongs to him because he broke the spell.
Sakura's class prepares Sleeping Beauty for the school arts festival, with Sakura cast as the prince and Syaoran as the princess. Meiling is ordered to return to Hong Kong and spends one final night with Sakura, admitting that her engagement to Syaoran was something she insisted on as a child. The Twin Card appears before she leaves, requiring Syaoran and Meiling to fight in perfect coordination while Sakura waits for the opening to seal it. Syaoran finally tells Meiling that she was never a burden to him.
Sakura's recurring dream becomes clearer, showing Mizuki beside a winged figure at Tokyo Tower. Kero confronts Mizuki privately while Sakura continues trying to understand why her teacher's magical presence feels so familiar. An earthquake interrupts the mystery and signals the awakening of the final uncaptured Clow Card, Earthy.

Months after the Final Judgment, Sakura's life is peaceful until Eriol Hiiragizawa transfers into her class and Nakuru Akizuki appears at Toya's school. A strange rainstorm begins over Tomoeda, but Sakura discovers that her new Star Key will not transform and the Clow Cards will not answer her. For the first time since becoming their master, Sakura is powerless in the middle of a magical attack.
The unnatural rain continues while Kero and Yue sense a magical presence that feels disturbingly familiar. Trapped by rising water, Sakura stops trying to invoke Clow Reed's magic and creates an incantation based on her own star power. She transforms Firey into the first Sakura Card and uses its strengthened flames to end the storm, collapsing afterward from the enormous effort.
Sakura learns that converting a Clow Card into a Sakura Card consumes far more power than she expected. At school, Eriol secretly enchants a piano so that it attacks whenever it hears Tomoyo sing. Sakura changes Song into a Sakura Card and uses Tomoyo's copied voice to lure the piano onto the roof and destroy the spell.
Sakura senses Clow Reed's presence again just as invisible magical strings seize control of Syaoran and force him to attack her. Syaoran exposes the threads with his own magic, allowing Sakura to transform Sword and cut him free. Behind the attack, Eriol is revealed to the audience as a reincarnation of Clow Reed, assisted by Spinel Sun and Ruby Moon.
Sakura makes a teddy bear for Yukito with Eriol's help, unaware that he has enchanted one of its ears. When she finally gives the bear away, it grows into a giant creature and attacks, while Yue struggles to protect her as his power begins failing. Sakura is drawn into a magically sealed hole beneath the playground and buried under an absurd flood of stuffed sheep. She transforms Erase to wipe them away and escape the trap.
Sakura learns that Clow Cards left unconverted are slowly losing their magic, so she recklessly tries to transform several at once. Dash escapes in panic and possesses Toya's bicycle, forcing Sakura into a dangerous chase through town. After Syaoran catches her during a fall, Sakura calms Dash with Loop and Windy and decides she will convert the remaining cards only when necessary.
Fujitaka gives Sakura Nadeshiko's old calendar, reopening the complicated history between her father and her mother's family. Sakura makes a gift for the great-grandfather she once met without knowing his identity and decorates it with Flower. The gesture finally helps Masaki accept Fujitaka and close a wound that has lasted since Nadeshiko's marriage.
An enchanted bookmark pulls Sakura into the world of Alice in Wonderland, where everyone she knows appears in absurd storybook roles. Her attempts to escape force her to convert Big and Little while Syaoran's strange comments hint that his feelings are changing. Sakura finally identifies the enchanted leaf that brought her there and flies through it back to reality.

Eriol traps Sakura and Syaoran inside an elevator and then makes Sakura appear to fall into darkness. Terrified that he has lost her, Syaoran calls Sakura by her first name for the first time before she saves herself with Float. The incident makes Sakura realize how close they have become, while Syaoran finally understands that what he feels for her is love.
Eriol prevents Kero and Yue from returning to their harmless everyday forms, leaving Sakura with two very obvious magical guardians to hide at home. While they remember their life with Clow Reed, Sakura searches for a way to break the spell. Transforming Shield gives her enough protection to cancel Eriol's magic and restore Kero and Yukito.
A magically animated basketball leads Sakura, Syaoran and Tomoyo into a school where every door opens into the wrong room. The shifting maze separates Sakura from Tomoyo and begins wearing down her confidence. Encouraged by Syaoran, Sakura uses the transformed Shadow Card to follow Tomoyo's singing voice, while Syaoran's attempt to confess his feelings is interrupted yet again.
Meiling unexpectedly returns to Tomoeda after Syaoran calls to tell her he has fallen in love with someone else. An attack by enchanted penguin statues gives the old team one more fight together, with Sakura transforming Freeze to stop them. Meiling releases Syaoran from their childhood engagement, then finally lets herself grieve before encouraging him to tell Sakura how he feels.
Sakura and Toya shop for a Christmas present for their father while another of Eriol's spells forces Sakura away to fight with Syaoran. Mirror takes Sakura's place, but Toya immediately recognizes that the girl beside him is not his sister and treats the card kindly anyway. He gives Mirror a ribbon as thanks for protecting Sakura, leaving a small physical sign of the bond between Sakura's family and the cards.
At New Year's, Sakura notices Yukito's worsening exhaustion while Eriol gives her a deliberately enchanted fortune promising that the truth will appear in her first dream of the year. Sakura transforms Dream while asleep and sees darkness spreading from Tsukimine Shrine. Inside it stand three silhouettes that resemble Eriol, Spinel Sun and Ruby Moon.
A day at an indoor water park becomes dangerous when Eriol causes the pool to surge into an enormous wave. Rika, who cannot swim well, is swept into danger and Sakura risks revealing her magic to save her. Transforming Watery gives Sakura enough control to rescue Rika, while Eriol's willingness to intervene if she failed makes his purpose increasingly difficult to read.
During a school ski trip, Syaoran admits that his attraction to Yukito was tied to Yue's moon power, but still cannot tell Sakura who he truly loves. Eriol creates a blizzard and avalanche that threatens the lodge below. Sakura transforms Time in a desperate attempt to stop it and collapses from the strain, forcing Eriol to end the danger himself.
Yukito's failing energy finally becomes impossible to ignore while he and Toya work on Nakuru's film. When Yukito collapses, Toya gets the chance he has been trying to create for months and gives up his own supernatural power to sustain Yue and save Yukito from disappearing. Sakura overhears enough to realize Toya always knew her secret and that Yue's survival has carried a cost her brother chose to pay.
Sakura finally tells Yukito that she loves him, only for Yukito to gently explain that her feelings resemble the love she has for her father and that his own heart belongs to Toya. Sakura understands more than she expected, but the rejection still hurts. Syaoran finds her crying and comforts her without using the moment to confess his own feelings.
Sakura invites Syaoran to the festival at Tsukimine Shrine and gives him the scarf she made, while he searches for the courage to tell her how he feels. Sakura and Syaoran combine their magic, using Wood, Thunder and Glow to stop the creature and restore light to the festival.
Wanting answers about what will happen when every Clow Card has become a Sakura Card, Sakura uses Return to travel into the past. She meets Clow Reed himself and sees the home where he once lived. The visit gives her a crucial realization: Clow's house is the same house Eriol now occupies.
Eriol finally reveals himself as the reincarnation of Clow Reed and places Tomoeda under magical darkness and sleep. Sakura must transform every remaining Clow Card before the spell becomes permanent, but Light and Dark resist her power until Kero, Yue and Syaoran lend their strength. Sakura completes the transformation of the deck and breaks Eriol's spell, after which Syaoran finally tells her that he loves her.
Sakura struggles to understand Syaoran's confession while Eriol prepares to leave Japan and explains why he created the incidents that forced her to transform the cards. Then Sakura learns that Syaoran is returning to Hong Kong and realizes how painful the idea of losing him feels. Her emotions create a new unnamed card, and she reaches the airport in time to accept the teddy bear Syaoran made for her before they part.
