The Fuhrer's young adopted son. Polite, small, apparently devoted to his father. Brotherhood's Pride is the first homunculus Father created and the most powerful, ancient beyond reckoning and contained in a form chosen specifically for its disarming quality. He controls shadows, extending them as blades and tendrils that require light to exist and darkness to operate, which is its own kind of irony. His true nature is one of the series' best reveals and the show times it with precision. Everything about his presentation before that moment is constructed to make the reveal land as hard as possible.

Equipped with a Philosopher's Stone supplied by Heinkel, Alphonse used circle-less alchemy to combat both Pride's shadows and Kimblee's explosive alchemy simultaneously.
The Breakdown
Alphonse trapped Pride inside a dirt dome to block shadow light sources, while Kimblee was mortally wounded by Heinkel biting his throat. Kimblee's dying consciousness was absorbed by Pride, later intervening from within Pride's soul to help Edward win.

Why it matters
Pride is frightening because the conspiracy has been sitting inside the image of an ordinary family. Bradley is Wrath, Selim is Pride, and the domestic life Amestris is shown is itself part of the disguise.
