WINRY ROCKBELL
WR
Automail mechanic from Resembool. Built Edward's arm and leg and maintains them every time he returns having broken something, which is every time he returns. Her parents were doctors who treated both sides in Ishval. Brotherhood handles what happened to them and what it means to Winry with more directness than the 2003 anime, and the confrontation that produces is one of the series' best scenes. She is the emotional fixed point the brothers keep measuring their distance from. She is also very good at her job and the show makes sure you understand both things.

ISHVAL & THE WAR OF EXTERMINATION //
Open page →Winry's parents treat wounded Ishvalans despite being Amestrian civilians. Scar, delirious after losing his brother, kills them after awakening in their care.
The revelation does not erase what Amestris did to Ishval, and Brotherhood does not use the Rockbells to flatten the war into 'both sides were equally wrong.' It makes Scar confront something narrower and harder: being a victim of state violence does not make every act of revenge just.

Why it matters
Winry and Scar force the story to separate justice from repetition.
