Years after defeating Piccolo, Goku brings his young son Gohan to Kame House and finally introduces him to the friends who knew him before fatherhood. The reunion is shattered when Raditz arrives, identifies Goku as the Saiyan Kakarot, and reveals that Earth’s strongest fighter was never human at all. By the end of the episode, the old Dragon Ball world has been cracked open into something much larger.
Raditz explains Goku’s Saiyan origins and demands that his brother prove his loyalty by helping wipe out Earth’s population. When Goku refuses, Raditz kidnaps Gohan and leaves behind a threat no one on Earth can answer alone. Piccolo arrives with the only practical proposal available: for once, he and Goku will have to fight on the same side.
Goku and Piccolo confront Raditz together, but the gap between them and a trained Saiyan warrior is brutal. Raditz reads their movements with his scouter, shrugs off attacks that once decided entire tournaments, and forces Piccolo to reveal that he has been developing a technique powerful enough to kill almost anyone if he can get time to charge it. Their only chance is to make Raditz stand still long enough for it to matter.
Piccolo begins charging the Makankosappo while Goku fights alone to keep Raditz occupied. The plan nearly works when Goku grabs Raditz’s tail, only for Raditz to exploit his brother’s mercy and escape. Then Gohan’s rage finally breaks through the space pod, and the four-year-old crashes into Raditz with enough force to injure a warrior neither Goku nor Piccolo could hurt.
Gohan’s attack gives Goku one final opening. He locks Raditz in place from behind and accepts that Piccolo’s Makankosappo will have to pass through both Saiyans to end the fight. Raditz dies first, Goku follows soon after, and before his last breath Raditz reveals the real disaster: two stronger Saiyans heard everything through his scouter and are already on their way to Earth.
Goku arrives in the afterlife expecting death to be the end of his part in the crisis, only for Kami to arrange something far stranger. King Yemma allows Goku to keep his body and sends him down the impossibly long Snake Way to train with King Kai before the Saiyans arrive. Back on Earth, Piccolo takes Gohan for himself, convinced that the child’s hidden power may be the only weapon worth developing in time.
Piccolo drops Gohan into the wilderness and gives him six months to learn how to survive before formal training begins. Hunger, fear and a very large dinosaur replace everything the sheltered child knew at home. From a distance Piccolo watches without comfort or encouragement, beginning a teacher-student relationship neither of them would ever have chosen under normal circumstances.
A full moon pulls the truth out of Gohan’s Saiyan blood. His tail triggers the same Great Ape transformation that once plagued Goku as a child, turning the frightened four-year-old into a rampaging giant. Piccolo destroys the moon, removes Gohan’s tail, and is left with one more reason to take the coming Saiyan invasion seriously.
Alone in the desert, Gohan discovers an old robot trapped beneath the ruins of an ancient structure. The machine wants nothing to do with him at first, but necessity slowly turns their uneasy coexistence into companionship. When the ruins collapse, the robot spends its last strength saving Gohan, leaving the boy with another hard lesson in surviving without anyone coming to rescue him.
Gohan’s wilderness training finally forces him into a fight he cannot simply run away from. Faced with danger on his own, he begins learning the difference between uncontrolled bursts of power and actually choosing to stand his ground. The episode is small compared with the battles coming later, but it is one of the first times Gohan starts behaving like a fighter rather than a frightened passenger.
Far from Earth, Vegeta and Nappa wake from suspended animation and resume their journey toward the planet Raditz died trying to conquer. Their casual confidence makes the approaching invasion feel worse, not better: these are not desperate attackers rushing toward a gamble, but veteran Saiyans who fully expect Earth to fold beneath them. Their movement toward Earth turns the training clock into a real countdown.
Goku’s run along Snake Way goes wrong when exhaustion sends him tumbling off the path and into the world below. What should have been a straight race to King Kai becomes another delay, forcing Goku to find a way back while precious time keeps disappearing. On Earth, everyone else is still training for enemies who are getting closer whether Goku is ready or not.
Goku discovers that the afterlife has its own rules, its own shortcuts and its own people perfectly willing to make his journey more difficult. He chases after King Yemma’s prized fruit and struggles to get himself back onto Snake Way, gaining a burst of strength along the way. The detour is ridiculous, but the deadline behind it is not: every lost hour matters now.
A beautiful palace on Snake Way offers Goku food, comfort and the first real chance to stop running since his death. Unfortunately, Snake Princess has no intention of letting him leave. Goku has to escape a trap built around temptation rather than strength, then get back on the road before the coming Saiyans make the whole detour fatal.
Gohan’s homesickness finally wins out and he tries to escape Piccolo’s wilderness training. The trip toward home becomes its own survival test as storms and exhaustion turn a simple act of running away into something genuinely dangerous. By the time it is over, Gohan is beginning to understand that wanting his old life back will not make the Saiyans disappear.
Still trying to reach home, Gohan encounters a group of orphaned children surviving together on the edge of society. For once he is not the most helpless child in the room, and his instinct is to protect people who have even less than he does. The experience pushes him another step away from the sheltered boy Piccolo abandoned in the wilderness.
Earth’s fighters continue preparing for the Saiyans while Gohan is pulled through another hard lesson about what strength can and cannot save. The episode moves between training and a city already shaped by fear and violence, letting the coming invasion hang over people who do not even know what is approaching. By now the year of preparation no longer feels long enough.
After what feels like an endless run, Goku finally reaches the tiny planet at the end of Snake Way and meets King Kai. The legendary master is nothing like the solemn teacher Goku expected, and before any serious training can begin Goku has to survive ten-times Earth’s gravity and prove he can keep up with King Kai’s bizarre sense of humor. The trip is over; the real training starts now.
King Kai’s first challenge is brutally simple: catch Bubbles while moving under ten-times Earth’s gravity. Goku quickly discovers that even standing and breathing on this tiny planet can be exhausting, turning a childish-looking exercise into a full-body battle. Every improvement matters because King Kai knows exactly how little time remains before Vegeta and Nappa reach Earth.
With Goku adapting to King Kai’s gravity, the training shifts toward techniques strong enough to matter against the Saiyans. King Kai also begins explaining the history of the Saiyan race and the destruction that followed them, giving Goku a clearer picture of the people Raditz claimed as his own. For the first time, Goku is learning not just how to fight the invaders, but where he came from.
The year of warning runs out. Vegeta and Nappa land on Earth, and the Dragon Balls suddenly become part of their plan after everything they learned from Raditz’s scouter transmission. While the Z Fighters move to intercept them, Goku’s training is finally complete, leaving one terrifying question hanging over the invasion: can he get back in time?
Nappa plants Saibaimen into the Earth and turns the opening stage of the invasion into a grotesque test of the defenders. Each creature is far stronger than its size suggests, forcing Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and Piccolo to fight seriously before either Saiyan has even stepped forward. Vegeta watches from the sidelines as if Earth’s best fighters are only the warm-up.
Yamcha steps in against a Saibaiman and wins the fight cleanly, only to relax a moment too soon. The creature grabs him and self-destructs, killing him before anyone can intervene. It is the first major death of the invasion and the moment the battle stops feeling like a rematch with stronger opponents and starts feeling like a massacre.
Nappa enters the battle personally and immediately makes the Saibaimen look like an opening act. Chiaotzu clings to his back and detonates himself in a desperate attempt to stop him, but the sacrifice barely leaves a mark. Tien is left staring at the loss of his closest friend while Nappa keeps moving as though nothing happened.
Tien throws everything he has left into one final Kikoho against Nappa. The attack drains the last of his life and still fails to kill the Saiyan, leaving another veteran fighter dead before Goku can reach the battlefield. The cost of buying time keeps rising, and Vegeta still has not needed to fight.
Vegeta grants the defenders a three-hour delay when he learns Goku is on his way, partly out of curiosity and partly because he wants to see the fighter who defeated Raditz. The ceasefire is almost more unnerving than the battle because everyone knows exactly when it will end. Goku races back from the afterlife while the survivors can do nothing but wait.
The deadline expires before Goku arrives, and Nappa resumes the attack. Gohan is terrified, but seeing the people around him being torn apart finally brings out the anger Piccolo has spent a year trying to reach. His burst of power proves once again that the child may be the strongest person on the field for a few seconds at a time, if only he could control it.
Piccolo takes Nappa’s attack meant for Gohan and dies protecting the child he once intended to use as a weapon. With Piccolo gone, Kami dies as well and Earth’s Dragon Balls vanish with him. The invasion has now cost the planet not only another defender, but its easiest way to undo any of the deaths.
Goku finally reaches the battlefield and finds almost everyone he trained to save already dead. After checking on Gohan and Krillin, he turns his attention to Nappa and reveals just how much King Kai’s training changed him. The Kaio-Ken turns what had been an unstoppable invasion into the first fight all day where a Saiyan invader is the one being overwhelmed.
Vegeta orders Nappa out of the fight after Goku makes the power gap obvious, then kills his own partner when Nappa refuses to accept defeat. With the battlefield cleared, Goku and Vegeta move away from Gohan and Krillin to settle the invasion themselves. The real Saiyan battle begins with both fighters still hiding how far they can push their bodies.
Goku realizes ordinary strength will not be enough against Vegeta and starts forcing the Kaio-Ken beyond the level King Kai warned him to use. Every increase gives him enough speed and power to keep up, but it also tears at his body from the inside. Vegeta answers by preparing an attack powerful enough to destroy Earth rather than accept losing the duel.
The beam struggle ends without settling anything, and Vegeta reaches for the Saiyans’ oldest advantage. Unable to find Earth’s moon, he creates an artificial one and transforms into a Great Ape, multiplying his power beyond anything Goku can answer directly. The fight changes instantly from a close duel into survival against a giant who still has Vegeta’s intelligence.
Great Ape Vegeta crushes Goku and leaves him almost unable to move, forcing Gohan and Krillin back into a battle they had been told to escape. Yajirobe also enters the fight at the one moment his hidden presence can matter, cutting off Vegeta’s tail and ending the transformation. The defenders finally have Vegeta back in a body they can hurt, but none of them has much strength left.
Goku can no longer throw the Genki-Dama himself, so he entrusts its remaining energy to Krillin. Vegeta dodges the first throw, but Gohan rebounds the attack back into him and lands the hit everyone has been gambling on. Even that is not enough to end the fight, leaving a battered Vegeta still capable of making one last attempt to wipe them out.
Vegeta’s attempt to use Gohan’s tail against the group backfires when the child transforms into a Great Ape. As the battlefield collapses around them, Gohan’s giant body finally crushes Vegeta and ends the invasion. Krillin has the defeated Saiyan at sword-point, but Goku asks him to let Vegeta escape, turning the victory into an act of mercy that will reshape the rest of the series.
Namek Saga

The battle with Vegeta is over, but victory has left Earth with Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu dead and the Dragon Balls gone with Kami. Krillin remembers Vegeta mentioning another set of Dragon Balls on Piccolo’s homeworld, giving the survivors one possible way to undo the damage. Namek stops being a piece of Piccolo’s past and becomes the next destination.
Bulma, Krillin and Gohan need a ship capable of crossing interstellar space, and the wrecked Saiyan pod is not going to solve the problem. Mr. Popo takes Bulma to Yunzabit Heights, where the ancient spacecraft that once brought Kami to Earth has been waiting for centuries. What looked like a dead end becomes a practical route to Namek.
Bulma and Dr. Brief work to make Kami’s old ship usable while Gohan and Krillin recover and prepare for the trip. Chi-Chi is furious at the idea of Gohan leaving Earth again, but he chooses to go because reviving Piccolo may also restore Kami and the Dragon Balls. The voyage begins with three people carrying the hopes of everyone the Saiyans killed.
A week into the trip to Namek, Bulma, Krillin and Gohan are attacked in deep space and pulled aboard a huge mirror-covered ship. The interior is a maze of traps, and when they finally reach the people controlling it, they discover their captors are children. The kids have every reason to fear strangers, and they immediately assume the three newcomers belong to the same force that destroyed their home.
Still held aboard the children’s ship, Bulma, Krillin and Gohan learn why the name Frieza terrifies people far beyond Earth. When the ship is caught in a violent meteor storm, Gohan and Krillin save the children while Bulma takes the controls and pilots everyone to safety. Their actions finally earn the children’s trust, and the trio is released with directions toward a shortcut to Namek.
The shortcut drops Bulma, Krillin and Gohan onto a planet they believe is Namek, where two apparently friendly Namekians nurse them back to health and offer to help find the Dragon Balls. The first searches seem almost absurdly successful, with Dragon Balls appearing one after another exactly where the radar says they should be. Krillin is uneasy, but after everything it took to get this far, all three want to believe they have finally arrived.
The search for the Dragon Balls continues across the false Namek through deserts, forests and impossible hazards, while the two helpful 'Namekians' keep steering the group toward one convenient discovery after another. Elsewhere, Vegeta recovers on Planet Frieza No. 79 and begins planning his next move after the beating he took on Earth. Two completely different races for the Dragon Balls are now moving at the same time, though Bulma and the others do not yet know theirs is built on a lie.
With six Dragon Balls gathered, the fake Namek adventure starts to unravel. Krillin notices how suspiciously easy the search has been, while the two 'Namekians' disappear at exactly the wrong moments and the landscape itself begins behaving strangely. The truth finally breaks through: the Dragon Balls, the scenery and their guides were all part of an illusion, and Vegeta learns that Frieza is already heading for the real Namek.
The two aliens reveal why they created the fake Namek: they were stranded on the planet and used illusions drawn from Bulma’s memories to keep the group occupied until a path through the surrounding space storm opened. They try to steal Kami’s ship and the Dragon Radar, but Gohan and Krillin stop them and Bulma escapes the false world for good. By the end of the episode, the trio finally reaches the real Planet Namek, where the actual race for the Dragon Balls is waiting.
The moment Bulma, Krillin and Gohan reach the real Namek, the difference is obvious: Frieza and Vegeta are already there, and neither came to ask politely for the Dragon Balls. Frieza’s forces spread across the planet while Vegeta openly rebels against his former master, intercepting Cui and revealing how much stronger he became after surviving Earth. What had been a detour through illusion becomes a genuine three-sided struggle for immortality.
Gohan and Krillin hide Bulma and investigate a nearby Namekian village, where they witness Frieza’s men searching for another Dragon Ball. On Earth, Yajirobe brings Goku a new supply of Senzu Beans, finally restoring him from the Vegeta battle. Dr. Brief has prepared a gravity-equipped spacecraft, and Goku blasts off for Namek with six days to turn recovery into training.
Frieza demands a village’s Dragon Ball and begins killing Namekians when its elder refuses to cooperate. Three young warriors destroy the soldiers’ scouters, briefly stripping Frieza’s forces of their easiest way to track power levels. Dodoria steps forward to crush the resistance, while Gohan struggles to remain hidden and watch innocent people die.
Dodoria overwhelms the Namekian defenders and murders the village elder despite receiving the Dragon Ball. When he turns on the surviving child Dende, Gohan finally abandons caution and attacks, allowing Krillin to help carry the boy away. Dodoria gives chase, turning the rescue into a desperate flight across Namek.
Krillin blinds Dodoria with the Solar Flare long enough for Gohan and Dende to escape. On his way back to Frieza, Dodoria is intercepted by Vegeta and quickly discovers that the Saiyan he once looked down on is now stronger than he is. Before dying, Dodoria reveals that Frieza was responsible for destroying Planet Vegeta, and Vegeta kills him anyway.
Goku’s gravity training nearly becomes fatal when his ship is knocked off course toward a star, forcing him to use everything he has just to survive and recover the flight path. On Namek, Vegeta locates another village and takes its Dragon Ball for himself after wiping out the people protecting it. Everyone is now collecting the same seven objects by completely different rules.
Vegeta finishes destroying the village and hides its Dragon Ball underwater so Frieza cannot assemble all seven. Krillin and Dende head toward the Grand Elder, who possesses the final ball, while Gohan remains with Bulma. On King Kai’s planet, Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu arrive to train, and King Kai warns Goku that Frieza is a threat he should not challenge lightly.
Krillin and Dende continue toward the Grand Elder while Vegeta closes in on the shifting Dragon Ball hunt. Zarbon finally confronts Vegeta and discovers that the Saiyan’s new confidence is not bluffing, but his elegant appearance hides a much stronger transformed state. The fight turns violently once Zarbon stops caring about looking beautiful.
Zarbon transforms and completely reverses his battle with Vegeta, pounding the Saiyan into the ground and leaving him sinking beneath a lake. Believing Vegeta dead, Zarbon returns to Frieza without recovering the information Frieza still needs. That mistake makes Vegeta more valuable alive than Zarbon expected.
Krillin and Dende reach the Grand Elder and meet Nail, whose resemblance to Piccolo immediately connects Namek to the world they left behind. Guru gives Krillin the final Dragon Ball and awakens the hidden power inside him after recognizing his good intentions. Meanwhile, Frieza orders Zarbon to retrieve Vegeta’s body, because the missing Dragon Ball matters more than finishing an enemy.
Zarbon recovers the badly injured Vegeta and brings him back to Frieza’s ship for treatment, unknowingly setting up the Saiyan for another recovery boost. Krillin races back with Guru’s Dragon Ball, while Piccolo and the others begin their own training under King Kai. Across three different locations, everyone is preparing for a fight none of them yet understands.
Vegeta wakes inside Frieza’s ship stronger than before and immediately turns his recovery into an escape plan. He distracts Frieza and Zarbon, steals the five Dragon Balls stored aboard the ship, and hides them where Frieza’s scouter-less forces cannot easily find them. For the first time, Frieza is the one reacting while Vegeta controls most of the board.
Krillin returns with Guru’s Dragon Ball, but both Vegeta and Zarbon track him down and prepare to fight over it. Vegeta’s latest recovery has widened the gap again, and this time he kills Zarbon decisively before taking Krillin’s ball. Meanwhile, Goku’s gravity system malfunctions and locks him under 100 times Earth’s gravity, which he turns into the harshest training session of his life.
With Dodoria and Zarbon dead, Frieza calls for the Ginyu Force, his elite team of specialists, to restore control of the situation. Gohan discovers the Dragon Ball Vegeta hid underwater and nearly gives himself away when Vegeta senses him nearby. He manages to leave with the ball concealed, only for Vegeta to realize too late exactly what happened.
Gohan and Krillin leave Bulma guarding the recovered Dragon Ball while they head toward Guru to unlock Gohan’s hidden power. Frieza’s frustration sends destructive blasts across Namek, knocking the ball into the water and forcing Bulma to chase it in a submarine. A giant crab turns the recovery into a surprisingly dangerous side mission before Bulma gets the ball back.
Bulma recovers the Dragon Ball only to be captured by two of Frieza’s soldiers who decide they would rather make the wish themselves. She plays along, using her knowledge of the Dragon Balls to lead them back into the water and directly toward the giant crab. The plan works, leaving Bulma free and two would-be traitors very thoroughly removed from the race.
Gohan and Krillin reach Guru while Vegeta follows close behind, unwilling to let the final Dragon Ball slip away. Guru awakens Gohan’s hidden power just as an enormous group of energies arrives on Namek: the Ginyu Force. Vegeta knows exactly what that means and makes the proposal nobody wanted to hear, that the three of them must cooperate or Frieza will win.
The Ginyu Force arrives with five fighters, five personalities and enough power to make even Vegeta stop pretending he can handle everything alone. Captain Ginyu takes control of the Dragon Balls while Guldo, Recoome, Burter and Jeice prepare to deal with Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan. The uneasy alliance barely has time to form before Frieza’s strongest team finds them.
Guldo looks like the weakest member of the Ginyu Force, but his psychic abilities make power levels almost irrelevant. He repeatedly stops time to escape Gohan and Krillin, then freezes both of them in place and prepares to kill them while they cannot move. Vegeta ends the threat with a sudden attack, making it clear that this alliance does not come with any rules about honorable combat.
Recoome takes the next turn and treats Vegeta’s all-out assault like entertainment. Vegeta lands everything he has, but Recoome keeps getting back up and eventually dismantles him with humiliating ease. Krillin tries to intervene and is put down almost immediately, leaving Gohan as the last fighter still able to stand.
Gohan refuses to stay down and attacks Recoome despite the enormous power gap, but courage cannot make the difference by itself. At Frieza’s ship, Captain Ginyu delivers the seven Dragon Balls only for Frieza to discover that possessing them is useless without the Namekian method of summoning the dragon. Just as Recoome prepares to finish Gohan, a massive power arrives on Namek and everyone recognizes Goku.
Goku reaches the battlefield and finds Gohan, Krillin and Vegeta battered almost beyond recognition. After distributing Senzu Beans, he steps in against Recoome and ends the fight with a single precise blow. The result is so effortless that Vegeta begins wondering whether Goku has become the legendary Super Saiyan he has spent his life imagining.
Jeice and Burter attack together, relying on speed and coordination to overwhelm the newcomer who just dropped Recoome. Goku avoids their attacks so cleanly that it appears he is barely moving, leaving Burter’s claim to be the fastest in the universe looking increasingly desperate. Vegeta watches Goku’s impossible improvement and becomes even more convinced that the legend may be standing in front of him.
Goku defeats Burter, sending a frightened Jeice racing back to Captain Ginyu for help. Vegeta kills the incapacitated Recoome and Burter despite Goku objecting, a reminder that their temporary cooperation has not changed who Vegeta is. Frieza leaves the Dragon Balls behind to seek the summoning password from Guru, opening a brief window for everyone else to move.
Captain Ginyu arrives expecting Jeice to have exaggerated Goku’s strength, so Goku skips the gradual buildup and shows him what the gravity training actually produced. His power climbs past Ginyu’s expectations and keeps going, leaving even the captain’s scouter struggling to make sense of it. Ginyu realizes he may be facing an opponent he cannot beat through ordinary combat.
Goku and Captain Ginyu continue testing each other while Frieza reaches Guru’s home and demands the Dragon Ball password. Guru refuses, and Nail tries to keep Frieza’s attention away from the dying elder because Guru’s death would make the Dragon Balls useless. The battle for the wish is now happening in two places at once, with neither side having much time left.
Nail draws Frieza away from Guru’s home to buy Dende time to reach Krillin and Gohan with the summoning password. Meanwhile, Goku proves too strong for Captain Ginyu, forcing the captain to abandon the idea of winning in his own body. Ginyu wounds himself deliberately and uses Body Change, leaving Goku trapped inside the captain’s broken body while Ginyu flies away wearing Goku’s.
Krillin and Gohan reach Frieza’s ship and find the seven Dragon Balls, but they still do not know the password needed to summon Porunga. Captain Ginyu returns in Goku’s body and tries to pass himself off as their friend, only for Gohan to recognize that something is wrong. The real Goku arrives in Ginyu’s damaged body and tells them exactly what happened.
Gohan and Krillin are forced to fight Ginyu while he wears Goku’s body, something neither of them is emotionally prepared to do. Ginyu quickly discovers that stealing Goku’s body did not give him Goku’s ability to use it, but even at reduced power he remains dangerous. Vegeta arrives, kills Jeice, and turns his attention toward the captain wearing his rival’s face.
Vegeta overwhelms Ginyu in Goku’s body, pushing the captain toward another desperate Body Change. Goku intercepts the technique and finally returns to his own body, then stops Ginyu’s attempt to steal Vegeta by throwing a Namekian frog into the beam. With the Ginyu Force finished, Goku is placed in a healing chamber while Vegeta arms Krillin and Gohan for the fight with Frieza that is now impossible to avoid.
Freeza Saga

Nail finally reveals the point of his hopeless fight with Frieza: he was buying time for Dende to reach Krillin and Gohan with the password for Porunga. Frieza races back toward the Dragon Balls, but he is already behind. Dende speaks the Namekian words, the sky darkens, and Porunga rises over the planet before Frieza can stop the wishes from beginning.
Porunga can grant three wishes, but unlike Shenron he can restore only one person at a time. Krillin and Gohan change their plan and revive Piccolo first, which also restores Kami and Earth’s Dragon Balls, then use the second wish to send Piccolo to Namek. Vegeta arrives in time to demand immortality for the third wish, but Guru dies before Dende can make it, turning the Dragon Balls to stone just as an enraged Frieza reaches them.
Frieza has lost his wish for immortality and turns his fury on Vegeta, Gohan and Krillin. Elsewhere, the newly arrived Piccolo finds Nail barely alive after his encounter with Frieza and reluctantly agrees to merge with him, gaining Nail’s strength and knowledge without losing control of his own body. Back at the battlefield, Vegeta’s confidence rises enough for him to challenge Frieza directly and even dare him to transform.

The prince attacks with everything he has and is reduced from confidence to disbelief as Frieza dodges, counters and humiliates him almost effortlessly. At the same time, Goku’s healing chamber finally completes its work and he awakens stronger than ever.
Goku arrives to find Vegeta beaten beyond resistance and Frieza waiting for another Saiyan to break. With his last strength, Vegeta tells Goku the truth about Frieza’s destruction of their people and begs him to defeat the tyrant who ruled their lives through fear. Frieza kills Vegeta before he can say more, and Goku quietly buries the rival who had spent his final moments asking another Saiyan to avenge them.
The fight the entire Namek story has been building toward finally begins. Goku faces Frieza alone, no longer fighting for Dragon Balls or even simply to escape the planet, but to stop the person responsible for the destruction surrounding them. Their opening exchanges show that Goku can actually keep up, forcing Frieza to take the battle more seriously than anyone before him.
Goku and Frieza move from testing one another into a real physical battle, trading speed, feints and heavy blows across Namek. Goku uses the ocean itself to hide a pair of underwater energy attacks and catches Frieza off guard, only for Frieza to answer by trapping him inside a controllable ball of energy and batting him through the landscape. Frieza is confident enough to impose a handicap on himself, promising to defeat Goku without using his hands. Elsewhere, Captain Ginyu is still causing trouble in a far less dignified body-switching detour involving Bulma.

At fifty percent of his full power, Frieza’s speed and strength jump beyond Goku’s ability to answer cleanly. With Frieza at fifty percent and dominating the fight, Goku pushes the Kaio-Ken to twenty times its normal level and commits everything to a Kamehameha. For one huge moment the attack appears capable of bridging the impossible gap, but Frieza survives and Goku is left with a body that has already paid for the gamble. His strongest familiar weapon has failed, and there is almost nothing left to try.
Goku reaches for the technique that once saved Earth from Vegeta: the Genki-Dama. Instead of drawing only from the life around him, he begins gathering energy from Namek and neighboring worlds, building a Spirit Bomb on a scale he has never attempted before. The problem is time. Goku has to remain exposed while Frieza is still standing directly in front of him.
Frieza finally realizes Goku is gathering power above him and moves to end the fight before the Spirit Bomb can be completed. Piccolo intervenes despite knowing how badly outmatched he is, attacking Frieza simply to keep his attention away from Goku for a few more seconds. On King Kai’s planet, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu face their own bizarre encounter with the dead members of the Ginyu Force.
Piccolo’s desperate interference gives Goku the final moments he needs. The enormous Genki-Dama drops onto Frieza and detonates with enough force to reshape the battlefield, leaving Goku, Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo exhausted but alive. For a brief stretch of silence, it appears that the impossible actually worked and Frieza is finally gone.
The celebration ends when Frieza rises from the blast. He shoots Piccolo through the chest, then lifts Krillin into the air and detonates him in front of Goku. The loss of his best friend breaks something Goku has been holding together through the entire fight, and the legendary Super Saiyan finally appears not as a boast or prophecy, but as Goku transformed by grief and rage.
Goku orders Gohan to take the wounded Piccolo and leave Namek while he stays behind with Frieza. The transformation has changed the balance completely: attacks that once terrified everyone barely move Goku now, and Frieza begins to understand what the Saiyan legend actually meant. Goku is furious, but the frightening part is how controlled that fury becomes once the fight resumes.
Frieza realizes the Super Saiyan is stronger and chooses a battlefield Goku cannot afford to lose. Frieza reaches full power and the final version of the duel begins as Namek’s remaining minutes disappear. On Earth, King Kai realizes the Dragon Balls can still affect the disaster and develops a plan using Shenron to revive everyone killed by Frieza and his men. Kami and Mr. Popo gather the Earth Dragon Balls while the fight on Namek continues at a level the planet can barely contain.
Shenron grants King Kai’s wish and restores the people Frieza and his forces killed on Namek, including Guru. At the battlefield, Frieza lands a devastating attack and Gohan mistakes his father’s disappearing energy for death, turning back to face the tyrant himself rather than leave the planet undefended. Goku survives and returns before Gohan can be killed, sending his son away again as Porunga’s return creates one last chance to save everyone.
Guru’s resurrection restores Porunga and the final unused Namekian wish. King Kai’s plan is simple: have Dende teleport everyone on Namek to Earth except Frieza, leaving the tyrant alone when the planet explodes. Goku deliberately asks to be excluded as well because he intends to finish the fight himself, and after a frantic race between Dende and Frieza to reach the dragon, the wish succeeds.
Everyone else vanishes from Namek, leaving only Goku and Frieza on the collapsing planet. Frieza is now at full power and finally fighting without another transformation, hostage or distraction to hide behind. Goku gets exactly the battle he chose to stay for, with the planet itself serving as the clock neither fighter can ignore.
Frieza’s full-power surge begins to betray him. The longer the fight continues, the more his stamina falls away while Goku’s Super Saiyan strength remains steady, turning Frieza’s greatest display of power into a trap of his own making. Goku recognizes the change and begins dismantling the tyrant’s confidence along with his body.
Goku decides the fight is over before Frieza is willing to accept it. He tells the exhausted tyrant that there is no point continuing because Frieza’s power is dropping and the humiliation of being surpassed is already complete. Frieza answers with increasingly reckless attacks, including energy discs that pursue Goku through the collapsing landscape and threaten to turn his desperation back on himself.
Frieza’s own cutting discs finally do what Goku could not convince him to stop doing: they slice through their creator and leave him helpless. Despite everything Frieza has done, Goku gives him enough energy to survive and turns to leave. Frieza uses that gift for one last attack from behind, and Goku answers with a single furious blast that finally ends the battle.
Namek reaches the end of its countdown as Goku races for any ship that might still carry him away. Frieza’s craft will not respond, the planet is collapsing beneath him, and there is no time left to improvise another escape. Namek explodes while everyone on Earth can do nothing but watch and wonder whether the Super Saiyan disappeared with it.
The survivors begin using the Namekian Dragon Balls on Earth to undo the last losses from the war. Krillin, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu are restored over successive wishes, but Porunga reveals something no one expected when they try to bring back Goku: he is already alive. Goku refuses an immediate trip home, choosing to return when he is ready, while the Namekians eventually leave Earth for a new world and the long crisis of Namek finally closes.

Frieza survived Namek’s destruction, rebuilt with mechanical parts, and now returns beside his father King Cold with revenge on his mind. The Z Fighters gather to meet them knowing Goku is nowhere in sight and that the enemy he barely defeated has come directly to their home.
Frieza and King Cold land on Earth expecting an easy revenge, but a young swordsman none of the Z Fighters recognize is already waiting for them. He calmly announces that he will defeat Frieza himself, then reveals the impossible: he can transform into a Super Saiyan too. Before Goku even returns, the certainty that he was the only one has already been shattered.
The mysterious Super Saiyan dismantles Frieza with shocking speed, slicing him apart with his sword and erasing the remains with an energy blast. King Cold tries to turn the boy’s weapon against him and dies just as easily. In a matter of minutes, the two rulers who once terrified entire worlds are gone, and the stranger tells the stunned Z Fighters that Goku will arrive in three hours.
The mysterious boy leads everyone to the exact place and time he says Goku will appear, and his prediction comes true when a Capsule Corp.-style pod lands with Goku inside. Goku returns from space to find Frieza and King Cold already dead and another Super Saiyan waiting for him. The celebration barely starts before the stranger asks to speak with Goku alone.
Away from the others, the stranger finally introduces himself as Trunks and reveals that he comes from the future. He tells Goku that Vegeta and Bulma are his parents, that Goku will die from a heart virus, and that two artificial humans will devastate Earth after his death. The three-year preparation begins in earnest. Trunks’ warning has turned peace into preparation, and nobody knows whether three years will be enough.

Three years pass, and the Z Fighters gather on the island where Trunks said the artificial humans would first appear. The enemy arrives without readable ki, making the usual method of locating a threat useless, and Androids 19 and 20 begin killing without warning. Yamcha finds them first and pays for it when Android 20 grabs him and drains his energy through the palm of his hand.
The Z Fighters rescue Yamcha and move the battle away from the city, but his warning reveals the artificial humans’ real advantage: they can absorb energy directly. Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan and takes Android 19 head-on, furious at the civilian deaths around them. He seems to control the fight at first, but something is already wrong inside his body.
Goku’s heart virus strikes in the middle of his battle with Android 19, later than Trunks predicted and at the worst possible time. Gero uses the terrain and his energy-absorption system to avoid a direct fight, trying to regain enough power to reach his hidden laboratory.
Dr. Gero ambushes Piccolo and begins draining his energy, but Gohan intervenes before the attack can finish him. A Senzu Bean restores Piccolo, who turns the tables and proves he is stronger than Gero expected. Then Trunks arrives from the future, takes one look at Android 20, and delivers the worst possible news: this is not one of the artificial humans who destroyed his world.
Gero abandons the battle and races toward his laboratory, where the artificial humans Trunks actually remembers are still sleeping. Bulma narrows down the lab’s likely location while the Z Fighters scatter to find it first. Trunks also learns that the infant he just protected is his younger self, making the altered past suddenly personal as well as dangerous.
The search closes in on Gero’s laboratory, but the scientist reaches it first and activates Androids 17 and 18. They look exactly like the killers from Trunks’ future, yet their attitude toward their creator is immediately wrong: they are casual, disobedient and openly resentful of being controlled. The nightmare Trunks came back to prevent has arrived, but even he no longer knows how closely this timeline will follow his own.
Android 17 destroys Dr. Gero’s remote and kills his creator, freeing himself and 18 from the last person who thought he could command them. Their attention turns to a third chamber containing Android 16, a model Gero was afraid to activate. Trunks destroys the laboratory in an attempt to stop them, but 17 and 18 survive the blast and awaken 16 anyway, giving the altered timeline one more artificial human than Trunks ever expected.
Vegeta catches up with Androids 16, 17 and 18 and insists on testing his Super Saiyan power against them. Android 18 accepts the challenge and matches him without strain, letting Vegeta burn through his energy while she barely changes expression. What begins as another showcase for Vegeta’s confidence slowly becomes the realization that Trunks’ warning may have understated how dangerous these enemies really are.
Trunks interferes when Android 18 begins dismantling Vegeta, which brings Android 17 into the fight exactly as promised. Piccolo and Tien join in and are dropped with frightening ease, while Krillin freezes rather than throw himself into a battle he knows he cannot win. The artificial humans leave the Z Fighters broken on the roadside, then casually continue their search for Goku as though the fight meant almost nothing.
After the defeat, the Z Fighters regroup and confront the fact that ordinary training will not close this power gap quickly enough. Piccolo makes a decision he once rejected completely and heads to Kami’s Lookout to reunite with the other half of the Namekian he used to be. Meanwhile, the artificial humans turn their hunt for Goku into a road trip, treating the destruction feared by Trunks with almost unsettling casualness.
Androids 16, 17 and 18 continue toward Goku’s home by car, stopping for vehicles and dealing with anyone who gets in their way without any sense of urgency. Krillin and Trunks move the still-sick Goku to a safer location before the artificial humans can reach him. At the Lookout, Kami watches the Earth and hesitates over Piccolo’s demand to merge, convinced that something even worse than the androids is beginning to move.
Goku is transported to safety while the androids continue their slow approach, and his fevered sleep fills with visions of the people he loves being killed. Vegeta, humiliated by Android 18, becomes convinced there must be a level beyond ordinary Super Saiyan and leaves to find it. Then Bulma reports something stranger than any of them expected: another Capsule Corp. time machine has been found, even though Trunks’ machine is already accounted for.

Bulma, Gohan and Trunks investigate the second time machine and discover it arrived years before Trunks first came to the past. Nearby they find a strange egg and the shed skin of a large insect-like creature, proof that something else traveled back with the machine. The mystery stops looking like a mechanical problem and starts looking biological.
Reports of an entire city disappearing push Kami to make the decision Piccolo has been demanding. He agrees to reunite with his other half, ending his own existence as Earth’s guardian so Piccolo can become whole again. The newly fused Namekian descends toward Gingertown, where streets are intact, homes are standing, and almost every person is simply gone.
Piccolo confronts the creature responsible for Gingertown and discovers it can use techniques belonging to Goku and the other fighters. The monster drains people through its tail and even fires a Kamehameha, turning familiar moves into something grotesque. Piccolo deliberately lets it believe his arm has been crippled so he can force an explanation of what it is and where it came from.
The creature finally gives Piccolo its name: Cell. Created by Dr. Gero’s computer from the cells of Earth’s strongest fighters and Frieza’s family, Cell traveled from another future after killing that timeline’s Trunks and stealing his time machine. His goal is just as disturbing as his origin: absorb Androids 17 and 18 and become perfect.
Piccolo regenerates his damaged arm and attacks once he has learned enough, but Cell refuses to stay trapped in a losing fight. He blinds everyone with the Solar Flare and escapes into the countryside, suppressing his ki so he can continue feeding on entire populations. The heroes now know exactly what Cell wants and still have no reliable way to find him.
Krillin and Trunks return to the ruins of Dr. Gero’s laboratory and discover a hidden basement containing the embryo of the Cell being developed in the present timeline. They destroy it before it can ever mature and recover blueprints for Android 17 that may help Bulma build a shutdown device. It is one small victory, but the Cell already loose in the world came from the future and cannot be erased that easily.
Cell continues feeding while the heroes search for a power strong enough to stop him. Krillin narrowly survives an encounter before Piccolo and Tien arrive, and Vegeta accepts Trunks’ idea that there may be a level beyond Super Saiyan. Then Goku finally wakes from the heart virus and immediately focuses on the same problem: they do not need another Super Saiyan, they need to surpass one.
Goku takes Vegeta, Trunks and Gohan to Kami’s Lookout and reveals the Room of Spirit and Time, where a full year of training can pass while only one day goes by outside. Vegeta and Trunks enter first, leaving Goku and Gohan to wait their turn. Meanwhile Androids 16, 17 and 18 reach Kame House looking for Goku, and Piccolo steps forward to keep them away from him.
Piccolo challenges Android 17 and proves that merging with Kami has made him strong enough to fight evenly with the artificial human. Their battle tears through the islands while Bulma works on the remote that could deactivate 17 and 18. The problem is that Cell senses Piccolo’s power from far away and realizes one of the androids he needs must be nearby.
Piccolo and 17 continue an exhausting fight with neither able to gain a lasting advantage, but Cell is getting closer with every minute. Unlike Piccolo, 17 never tires, turning time itself into an advantage. When Cell finally arrives, the androids see the monster hunting them for the first time and Piccolo’s private battle becomes a race to keep 17 away from Cell’s tail.
Cell has absorbed enough humans to overpower both Piccolo and Android 17. Piccolo throws everything into stopping him and is beaten down, leaving 17 exposed despite repeated warnings to run. Android 16, silent through most of the crisis, finally prepares to enter the fight as the last person present with enough power to challenge Cell directly.
Android 16 confronts Cell and reveals strength no one expected, matching the bio-android blow for blow and blasting him apart with Hell’s Flash. For a moment it looks as though the quiet machine built to kill Goku may save everyone without ever caring about the mission Dr. Gero gave him. But 17 stays too close, convinced Cell has been defeated, and gives the monster the opening he needs.
Cell ambushes Android 17 and absorbs him before 16 can stop it. The transformation into Cell’s second form changes the balance instantly, leaving 16 badly outmatched and Android 18 as the final piece Cell needs for perfection. Tien arrives and begins firing repeated Shin Kikoho attacks, not to win, but to pin Cell down long enough for 16 and 18 to escape.
Tien keeps Cell trapped with one Shin Kikoho after another until his body finally gives out. Goku uses Instant Transmission to rescue both Tien and the barely surviving Piccolo, then meets Cell face-to-face for the first time and promises he will be ready after one more day of training. At the Lookout, Vegeta and Trunks emerge from the Room of Spirit and Time looking very different from when they entered.
Vegeta refuses to explain what he achieved inside the Room of Spirit and Time, preferring to show Cell directly. Bulma arrives with new Saiyan-style armor, and Vegeta and Trunks leave to hunt the monster while Goku and Gohan take their turn inside the chamber. Cell, desperate to find 18, begins destroying inhabited islands one by one to force her into the open.
Cell reaches the final island where Androids 16 and 18 are hiding and prepares to erase it with everyone still on it. Vegeta arrives first, powers beyond his normal Super Saiyan state, and introduces the result of his training as 'Super Vegeta.' Remembering the kiss she gave him and seeing her as a person rather than a target, Krillin destroys the remote instead, while Vegeta deliberately allows Cell to search for her and Trunks tries to stop his father’s reckless decision.
Cell spots Android 18 and races for her while Trunks repeatedly blocks his path. Vegeta interferes with his own son to preserve the fight he wants, forcing Trunks to blast him away and choose Earth over his father’s pride. Cell finally uses the Solar Flare to blind everyone, reaches 18 through Krillin’s desperate resistance, and absorbs her as his transformation begins.
Cell reaches his perfect form, and every fear about what that would mean is immediately justified. Krillin attacks in rage over Android 18 and is dropped with a single casual kick, while Vegeta is almost pleased that the opponent he demanded has finally arrived. Inside the Room of Spirit and Time, Gohan succeeds in becoming a Super Saiyan and begins learning how to live in the transformation rather than merely reach it.
Vegeta attacks Perfect Cell expecting the same dominance he had moments earlier and discovers that his mistake cannot be taken back. Cell absorbs his strongest blows without concern and dismantles him in return. Goku and Gohan continue training inside the chamber, with Gohan now able to maintain Super Saiyan as his father looks for a better path than simply adding more muscle.
Vegeta refuses to accept the gap and pours everything into the Final Flash, challenging Cell to stand still and take it. The blast tears away a huge section of Cell’s body and gives Vegeta one brief moment to believe he has won. Memories of his ruined future drive him harder, and Cell explains more of the chain of events that brought him into this timeline. Trunks appears stronger in sheer power, but Cell’s confidence grows as he recognizes the flaw hidden inside the young Saiyan’s transformation.

Trunks returns to the others with Cell’s announcement while the monster begins constructing a tournament arena in the wilderness. The event will be called the Cell Games, an imitation of the Tenkaichi Budokai built around a threat to exterminate humanity if nobody can defeat him. Nine days remain, and Cell makes sure the world will soon know exactly where to find him.
Cell hijacks a television broadcast and announces the Cell Games to the entire planet, turning a private war between superhuman fighters into a public countdown to extinction. Panic spreads immediately as ordinary people learn that the fate of Earth will be decided in a tournament. Inside the Room of Spirit and Time, Goku and Gohan continue training without seeing the fear their enemy is creating outside.
Goku and Gohan emerge from the Room of Spirit and Time as Super Saiyans who can remain transformed without strain, the result of choosing control over the bulky ascended forms Vegeta and Trunks pursued. Goku visits Cell briefly to measure him, then decides he and Gohan will not use another full day in the chamber. Piccolo enters next while father and son prepare to finish their training in the ordinary world.
Goku asks Korin to compare his strength with Cell’s and learns the answer is not reassuring: Cell still appears stronger. Goku remains strangely calm, setting a schedule built around rest as much as training and refusing to explain why he is so confident. Vegeta and the others see recklessness; Goku sees a plan that depends on someone other than himself.
During the quiet days before the Cell Games, Gohan meets a girl named Lime in a village being terrorized by fear of Cell. A wealthy man has hired Mercenary Tao to control access to his private shelter, and Gohan steps in when that fear turns into exploitation. The episode gives Gohan a reminder of the ordinary people living under the countdown he is training to end.
The calm before the Cell Games turns toward Gohan’s childhood as Chi-Chi remembers how her son was named and Goku recalls the frightening power he showed even as a baby. The family spends time together, picks apples and celebrates Gohan’s birthday. With the tournament approaching, the memories make clear how little of Gohan’s life has ever been allowed to stay ordinary for long.
Cell destroys an entire military force sent to eliminate him, making the need for the Dragon Balls impossible to ignore. With Kami gone after merging with Piccolo, Earth no longer has a guardian or functioning Dragon Balls, so Goku uses Instant Transmission to search for the Namekians. His solution is simple: bring Dende back to Earth and give the planet a new God.
Goku reaches the Namekians’ new world and asks Dende to become Earth’s new guardian. Dende agrees, returns to the Lookout, and restores the Dragon Balls with an upgraded Shenron capable of granting multiple wishes. With the Cell Games almost here, Goku immediately begins gathering the seven balls so the damage Cell has already caused can eventually be undone.
Goku’s search for the final Dragon Balls leads him to an old enemy: Mercenary Tao. Tao knows a direct fight is hopeless, so he tries to delay Goku with a puzzle instead, wagering the Dragon Balls on whether Goku can solve it. The detour ends with all seven balls collected and the Cell Games finally ready to begin.
The day of the Cell Games arrives, bringing Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo, Krillin, Tien and Yamcha to Cell’s arena. The world’s cameras arrive too, along with Mr. Satan, who is completely convinced that Cell is a fraud he can expose in front of everyone. The real fighters wait while Earth’s self-proclaimed champion insists on going first.
Mr. Satan’s students Caroni and Pirozhki arrive to represent the 'Satan Army' and challenge Cell before their teacher. Both are dispatched almost instantly, and Mr. Satan finally steps into the ring himself only to be swatted into a mountainside with similar ease. With the comedy out of the way, Goku walks forward and the actual Cell Games begin.
Goku and Cell open their fight at such speed and power that even the spectators struggle to follow them. After the first exchanges, both reveal that what looked like a serious battle was only a warm-up. Goku powers up fully and Cell answers in kind, beginning the match everyone else came to see and the fight Goku already suspects he cannot finish alone.
Cell begins using techniques inherited from the fighters whose cells created him, including Tien’s multi-form technique, Piccolo’s attacks and a massive Kamehameha aimed toward Earth. Goku manages to redirect the threat and returns to the arena, but Cell is becoming frustrated by the tournament’s rules. The fight remains close enough that neither man can force a clean advantage.
Cell destroys the tournament ring and abandons the ring-out rule, turning the Cell Games into a simple fight to the death. Goku responds with one of his smartest gambles: he charges a Kamehameha from above as though he might destroy Earth, then uses Instant Transmission at the last second and fires it point-blank into Cell. The blast removes most of Cell’s upper body, and for a moment everyone thinks Goku has won.
Cell regenerates from Goku’s point-blank Kamehameha and resumes the fight, but Goku has spent more energy than his opponent. As the gap widens, he suddenly stops and surrenders, stunning Cell and every ally watching. Goku is not giving Earth away; he is clearing the ring for the fighter he believes can do what he cannot.
Goku names Gohan as Cell’s next opponent and shocks everyone further by giving Cell a Senzu Bean so the fight will begin with both sides fresh. Piccolo sees the problem immediately: Gohan does not love fighting the way Goku does and may not understand the plan built around his hidden anger. Gohan enters the ring anyway, carrying a confidence in his power that he does not entirely share.
Cell attacks Gohan harder and harder, trying to force out the explosive power Goku described. Gohan finally explains the pattern himself, recalling the moments when rage against Raditz and Frieza unlocked strength he could not normally reach. Instead of frightening Cell, the warning fascinates him. Cell decides that if pain is what Gohan needs, he will provide as much of it as necessary.
Android 16 tries to end the situation by grabbing Cell and triggering the bomb built into his body, only to discover Bulma removed it during his repairs. Cell destroys 16 and shifts to a crueler plan for Gohan: hurt everyone else instead. He creates seven Cell Juniors and sends them against the Z Fighters, forcing Gohan to watch his friends and family being beaten while he remains unable to trigger the anger Cell wants.
The Cell Juniors overwhelm nearly everyone, and Android 16’s severed head asks Mr. Satan for one final favor: carry him close enough to speak to Gohan. 16 tells the boy that protecting life sometimes means fighting, and that there is nothing wrong with releasing his anger for the right reason. Cell crushes 16’s head immediately afterward, and the last restraint inside Gohan finally breaks.
Gohan completes the transformation into Super Saiyan 2, gaining enormous power without sacrificing speed. Before turning on Cell, he takes back the stolen Senzu Beans and destroys the Cell Juniors one after another with almost casual efficiency. The child everyone spent years waiting to see become angry is now the strongest fighter on the battlefield.
Gohan begins fighting Cell directly and the difference is humiliating. Cell attacks at full power, but Gohan avoids his blows and answers with only a handful of strikes powerful enough to badly damage him. Goku’s faith has been vindicated, but Gohan’s new strength comes with a colder edge that makes ending the fight quickly less certain than it should be.
Cell escalates from desperation to recklessness, trying to destroy Earth with a Kamehameha only for Gohan to overpower the attack. He regenerates and bulks himself up in the same strength-heavy form Trunks used, making himself even easier for Gohan to punish. Goku urges his son to finish the fight, but Gohan wants Cell to suffer, and a crushing kick finally forces Android 18 out of Cell’s body.
Losing Android 18 drops Cell back to his previous form, and humiliation pushes him toward one final option: self-destruction. He swells with enough energy to take Earth with him, leaving no safe way for Gohan to stop the explosion. Goku says goodbye, uses Instant Transmission to carry Cell to King Kai’s planet, and dies in the blast along with King Kai, Bubbles and Gregory.
The survivors barely have time to understand Goku’s sacrifice before Cell returns in a stronger perfect form. His Saiyan cells turned surviving his own explosion into a massive power increase, and one of his first attacks kills Trunks. Vegeta charges in blindly over his son’s death, and Gohan saves him from Cell’s counterattack at the cost of badly injuring his left arm.
Cell prepares a Kamehameha powerful enough to erase Earth while the injured Gohan begins to believe he can no longer stop him. Through King Kai, Goku reaches his son from the afterlife and refuses to let him give up. With one usable arm, Gohan gathers everything he has left and fires his own Kamehameha directly into Cell’s attack.
Gohan and Cell lock into a Kamehameha struggle that begins tipping toward Cell despite Goku’s encouragement. Piccolo attacks first to help Gohan, followed by Krillin, Tien and Yamcha, but Cell throws them off without breaking the beam struggle. Vegeta finally fires from the side and distracts Cell for a fraction of a second, giving Gohan the opening to release everything and erase Cell completely.
With Cell gone, the survivors return to the Lookout and summon Shenron. The people killed by Cell are restored, but Goku cannot be revived by Earth’s Dragon Balls because Shenron has already brought him back once. Speaking through King Kai, Goku asks everyone not to pursue another method, deciding to remain in the afterlife because so many threats have come to Earth because of him.
The final wish turns unexpectedly personal when Krillin asks Shenron to make Androids 17 and 18 human. Shenron cannot change what they are, so Krillin instead asks for the explosives inside them to be removed. Android 18 hears enough to understand what he tried to do, Trunks prepares to return to his own future, and Gohan goes home to tell Chi-Chi that this time Goku has chosen not to come back.
Trunks returns to the future that once left him helpless and discovers how completely his time in the past changed him. He destroys Androids 17 and 18 without difficulty, then waits for his timeline’s Cell to make the same move that once killed another version of him and stole the time machine. Trunks kills Cell as well, finally giving his future the peace he traveled through time to create.

The World Martial Arts Tournament opens its junior division, and most of the children are exactly as ordinary as everyone expected. Then Trunks steps into the ring and ends his first match almost instantly, followed by Goten showing the same impossible strength in his own bracket. The adults watching from the sidelines realize the next generation of Saiyans has arrived at the tournament years ahead of schedule.
The junior division narrows until Goten and Trunks are the two fighters left standing. Their final begins as a playful rivalry between best friends, but the speed and force behind it are far beyond anything the crowd understands. Both boys are trying to obey their agreement not to become Super Saiyans, which makes the contest less about raw power and more about who can outsmart the other first.
Goten and Trunks push their junior final to the edge, briefly breaking their own rules when the fight gets serious. Trunks ultimately wins by ring-out and becomes the junior champion, earning the right to face Mr. Satan in an exhibition match. The crowd sees a gifted child; the Dragon Team sees proof that Super Saiyan power has become almost absurdly natural in the next generation.
Mr. Satan expects his exhibition with Trunks to be harmless theater until the eight-year-old actually hits him. Trunks sends the world champion flying, forcing Satan to save face by pretending he deliberately allowed the blow. Meanwhile, Goten and Trunks decide the junior division was not enough and begin looking for a way into the adult tournament.
The adult competitors draw their first-round matchups, producing a bracket loaded with history: Goku and Vegeta are set on a collision course, Gohan draws Kibito, Piccolo faces the mysterious Shin, and Videl is matched with Spopovich. Goten and Trunks also find their loophole into the adult division by taking over the costume of Mighty Mask. What still looks like a martial arts tournament is already surrounded by people who clearly came for something else.
Piccolo steps into the ring against Shin and immediately senses that this is not an ordinary fighter. Unable to place the feeling at first, he realizes Shin stands above the Kais he knows and forfeits without throwing a punch. Krillin follows with a much more straightforward match, easily defeating Pintar while the mystery around Shin only deepens.
Videl begins her match with Spopovich expecting the same lumbering fighter she has seen before, but something about him is wrong. He absorbs punishment that should put a human down, survives injuries no normal body could endure, and keeps coming with almost no expression. The tournament crowd sees a brutal upset taking shape; the Dragon Team sees evidence that an outside power is already inside the arena.
Spopovich turns the match into a beating long after Videl has proven how badly she wants to stay on her feet. Gohan can barely restrain himself as she is repeatedly injured, while Yamu keeps Spopovich focused on whatever larger mission brought them to the tournament. Videl finally loses, and the cheerful tournament atmosphere is gone with her.
After Videl is rushed for treatment, Gohan enters the ring against Kibito and is asked to reveal his Super Saiyan power. He transforms despite the risk to his Great Saiyaman identity, exposing himself to his classmates and the entire crowd. The display is exactly what Spopovich and Yamu were waiting for, and Shin prepares Gohan for the trap rather than stopping it.
Shin immobilizes Gohan while Spopovich and Yamu drive an energy-draining device into him and steal the power needed for their real objective. Once the device is full, the two men flee the tournament and Shin releases Gohan, explaining that they must be followed rather than stopped. The World Martial Arts Tournament has become the entry point to a plan involving a sealed being called Majin Buu.
The group follows Spopovich and Yamu to Babidi’s hidden spacecraft and finally sees the enemy behind the scheme. The wizard Babidi takes the stolen energy, then disposes of the men who delivered it once they are no longer useful. Supreme Kai explains that Babidi is gathering enough power to revive Majin Buu, an ancient magical creature whose release could threaten far more than Earth.
Dabura, king of the Demon Realm and Babidi’s strongest servant, attacks the group before they can reach the ship. He kills Kibito and turns Krillin and Piccolo to stone with his spit, knowing their only chance of restoration is his own death. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Supreme Kai enter Babidi’s spacecraft anyway, accepting a staged series of battles designed to drain their energy for Buu.
Vegeta takes the first stage against Pui Pui, a fighter who expects his home planet’s ten-times gravity to give him an advantage. Babidi changes the battlefield to Pui Pui’s world, only to discover that gravity which terrifies his servant is routine training for Vegeta. The fight ends almost immediately, and Babidi learns that Earth’s Saiyans are not going to provide energy quietly.
Goku faces Yakon in a world of total darkness and discovers the creature feeds on light and energy. When Yakon begins swallowing the glow of Super Saiyan, Goku turns the weakness into a weapon and produces more power than the monster can absorb. Yakon destroys himself by trying to consume it all, and Vegeta notices just how far Goku’s strength has climbed since the Cell Games.
Back at the World Martial Arts Tournament, the abandoned adult bracket is reorganized into a battle royal featuring Mr. Satan, Android 18, Mighty Mask, Killa and Jewel. Satan desperately tries to stay out of danger while 18 and the disguised Goten and Trunks reveal that the remaining field is wildly uneven. Far below the tournament, Babidi is still waiting for the next battle that can feed Majin Buu.
Android 18 takes on Mighty Mask and quickly realizes the oddly shaped fighter is actually two people working inside one costume. Goten and Trunks resort to Super Saiyan power when the fight turns against them, giving away the trick and earning an immediate disqualification. With the boys gone, 18 is left to deal with Mr. Satan and a tournament result that can be negotiated more profitably than fought.
Gohan finally faces Dabura, whose magic and combat skill make him far more dangerous than Babidi’s earlier fighters. Gohan can keep up, but his seven peaceful years since Cell show in the rough edges of his performance, frustrating Vegeta almost as much as the enemy does. Dabura eventually stops the match after noticing something more valuable than Gohan’s energy: the darkness still buried inside Vegeta.
Dabura returns to Babidi and explains that one of the invaders has exactly the kind of evil heart the wizard can exploit. Babidi reaches into Vegeta’s buried resentment, amplifying the part of him that still hates how completely life on Earth changed him. Vegeta understands what is happening and does not resist, because Babidi’s power offers something he wants more than freedom: a forced path back to Goku.
Babidi marks Vegeta with the Majin symbol and transports everyone back to the tournament grounds. Vegeta refuses to obey the wizard in any meaningful sense, but he uses his new power to slaughter spectators and force Goku into accepting the rematch he has wanted for seven years. Goku agrees only after Babidi moves their fight away from the arena, while Gohan and Supreme Kai rush back toward Buu’s sealed ball.
Goku and Majin Vegeta finally begin the rematch that never happened after the Saiyan invasion. Both fight as Super Saiyan 2s, trading enough power to feed Babidi’s machine with every collision while Vegeta unloads years of resentment over Goku surpassing him. The fight is everything Vegeta wanted, except the energy it produces is bringing Majin Buu closer to waking with every blow.
Goku and Vegeta continue their duel while Gohan and Supreme Kai reach the chamber holding Buu’s sealed shell. Supreme Kai pleads for the Saiyans to stop feeding it power, but Vegeta refuses to abandon the fight that he sacrificed so much to create. The meter reaches full strength, and the seal begins to open before Gohan can stop Babidi’s plan.
Majin Buu’s enormous sealed ball begins hatching as Gohan and Supreme Kai watch their worst fear become real. The shell opens to reveal nothing inside, briefly suggesting Babidi’s centuries-long plan failed. Then steam pouring from the shell gathers in the sky, and the creature it carried begins taking shape above them.
Gohan attacks the empty shell with a Kamehameha in a desperate attempt to destroy Buu before the revival can finish. It is too late: the released vapor forms into a round, pink creature whose childish appearance is almost insulting compared with Supreme Kai’s terror. Majin Buu has returned, and nobody present can immediately tell whether he even understands what he is.
Dabura decides Babidi has awakened a useless fool and attacks Majin Buu, only to discover how badly appearances lie. Buu’s elastic body, regeneration and casual strength make conventional damage almost meaningless, and Supreme Kai realizes the creature from the old stories has lost none of its danger. The balance of power inside Babidi’s army changes the moment Buu stops being an object and starts acting for himself.
Gohan tries to protect Supreme Kai and is drawn directly into Majin Buu’s rampage. Buu overwhelms both of them with frightening ease, knocking Gohan away so violently that his energy seems to disappear. Supreme Kai is left believing the young fighter who defeated Cell has been killed by a creature they failed to keep sealed.
Majin Buu turns his attention to Dabura, whose attacks and insults only make the Majin more irritated. Buu transforms the Demon King into food and eats him, which restores Piccolo and Krillin from stone but removes Babidi’s strongest servant from the board. Elsewhere, Vegeta senses Gohan’s energy vanish and finally understands what his obsession with Goku has helped unleash.
Vegeta knocks Goku unconscious rather than continue their duel and heads for Majin Buu alone. He knows the energy from their fight helped free the monster and refuses to leave the consequences to anyone else. At Babidi’s battlefield, Vegeta attacks Buu with enough force to hurt him, but the Majin’s regeneration keeps turning every apparent success into another problem.
Vegeta accepts that he cannot destroy Buu through an ordinary fight and makes a decision his younger self could never have understood. He knocks out Goten and Trunks, asks Piccolo to take them away, then embraces Trunks for the first time before sending him to safety. Vegeta releases every bit of energy in his body in one final explosion meant to erase Majin Buu with him.
Vegeta’s sacrifice leaves a crater and a body turned to stone, but even that is not enough. Pieces of Majin Buu begin moving, gather together, and rebuild the creature completely. Babidi survives as well, and with Goku unconscious, Vegeta dead and Gohan missing, the surviving fighters are forced to accept that Earth’s strongest direct attack did not solve anything.
The survivors regroup at Kami’s Lookout while Bulma, Videl and the others gather the Dragon Balls to repair the latest disaster. Goku wakes, learns that Vegeta sacrificed himself and hears that Gohan is believed dead, leaving almost no experienced fighter on Earth who can stop Buu. With time already running out, Goku proposes a technique that could turn Goten and Trunks into the warrior everyone else no longer has.
Goku introduces the Fusion Dance and explains the absurdly precise requirements: two fighters of similar size and power must mirror each other perfectly to become one person for thirty minutes. Goten and Trunks are horrified by the pose and fascinated by the promise of strength. Fusion becomes Earth’s new plan, not because it is elegant, but because almost every other option is gone.
Babidi broadcasts Goten and Trunks’ faces around the world and threatens to destroy cities until the children are surrendered. When West City becomes a target, Trunks races home to retrieve the Dragon Radar before Buu can erase Capsule Corporation with it. Goku prepares to intercept Buu and buy the child enough time to get in and out alive.
Far from Earth, Gohan wakes in the Sacred World of the Kais and learns that Supreme Kai and Kibito saved him. He is taken to the legendary Z Sword, a weapon said to grant extraordinary power to whoever can draw it from the stone. Back on Earth, Goku continues stalling for Trunks while the fusion plan depends on two children who still have not mastered the dance.
Gohan transforms and finally pulls the Z Sword free, only to discover that the legendary weapon is unbelievably heavy rather than magically easy to wield. His training becomes a matter of learning to move and fight with its weight until his strength rises to meet it. On Earth, Goku keeps one eye on Buu and another on the clock Trunks is racing against.
Majin Buu and Babidi reach West City while Trunks is still searching Capsule Corporation for the Dragon Radar. Goku steps in and challenges Buu, cycling through Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 while explaining that another level exists beyond them. The delay is deliberate: every second Buu watches Goku is another second Trunks has to escape.
Goku reveals Super Saiyan 3, a transformation so extreme that the power can be felt across worlds. He fights Majin Buu strongly enough to prove the new form can contend with him, but the transformation burns through Goku’s limited time on Earth at a frightening rate. The battle was never meant to finish Buu; it was meant to keep him occupied until Trunks returned safely.
Goku ends the fight and leaves Buu with a question more dangerous to Babidi than any attack: why does someone as powerful as Buu take orders from a weaker wizard? The thought sticks. When Babidi resumes insulting and commanding him, Buu finally turns on his master and kills him, leaving the Majin completely free to destroy, wander or change without anyone holding the seal over his head.
With Babidi gone, Goku devotes what remains of his day on Earth to teaching Goten and Trunks the Fusion Dance. Their first attempts prove that tiny errors produce spectacularly useless results, from an overweight fusion to a skeletal one. The comedy hides the pressure: Goku’s time is disappearing, and Piccolo will soon have to continue the training without him.
Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 display has shortened his one-day return, and the final minutes arrive sooner than expected. He says goodbye to Goten and the others, leaves the fusion training to Piccolo, and returns to the afterlife. Instead of going straight back to ordinary training, he begins searching for Gohan after learning that his son’s fate may not be what everyone on Earth believes.
Goku discovers Gohan alive in the Sacred World of the Kais, where his son continues training with the Z Sword. On Earth, Goten and Trunks keep practicing fusion under Piccolo and finally get close enough to produce a usable result. Two separate plans are now developing at once: one built around the children becoming Gotenks, the other around whatever the Z Sword can unlock in Gohan.
Gohan’s Z Sword training reaches its strangest turn when a test of the legendary blade against an impossibly hard block snaps it in half. Instead of destroying Earth’s last hope, the break releases an ancient Kai who had been sealed inside the sword for generations. Old Kai claims the real prize is not the weapon at all, but his ability to draw out power hidden far beyond Gohan’s normal limits.
Goten and Trunks finally perform the Fusion Dance correctly and create Gotenks. The new warrior has enormous power and even more confidence, immediately deciding he does not need the careful plan everyone else built around him. Gotenks rushes off to challenge Buu before he is ready and returns badly beaten, proving that successful fusion and good judgment are very different achievements.
With Earth’s fighters hidden, Mr. Satan decides the world champion has to deal with Majin Buu himself. Poisoned food, explosives and other tricks fail completely, but Buu finds Satan entertaining enough to keep him around instead of killing him. The ridiculous assassination attempt becomes something nobody planned for: the beginning of an actual friendship.
Majin Buu finds an injured puppy and heals it, then becomes attached to the animal when it responds with affection instead of fear. Mr. Satan uses the opening to explain that killing people is wrong, and Buu casually agrees to stop doing it. For the first time, the threat to Earth is reduced not by a stronger fighter, but by somebody treating the monster like a person capable of choosing differently.
The fragile peace collapses when two gunmen hunting humans for sport shoot Buu’s puppy and then Mr. Satan. Buu heals both of his friends, but the rage he is holding back becomes too much for his body to contain. Smoke pours out of him and condenses into a thin gray Majin made from the evil Buu had finally tried to reject.
Good Buu fights the newly formed Evil Buu and discovers that expelling his malice also divided his strength. Evil Buu reflects a candy-transforming attack back at him, turns the round Majin into chocolate and eats him. The two halves become one again in a new form: taller, leaner, more intelligent and far more dangerous than the Buu Mr. Satan had just convinced to stop killing.
Super Buu reaches Kami’s Lookout and demands the powerful fighter he was promised. Piccolo stalls by telling him to wait, only for Buu to raise one hand and fire a planet-spanning attack that exterminates almost every remaining human on Earth in minutes. Mr. Satan survives because of the Good Buu still buried inside the monster, but the rest of humanity is effectively erased before the fusion fight even begins.
Piccolo finally leads Super Buu toward the Room of Spirit and Time, using the long route through the Lookout to buy Goten and Trunks every possible minute to train. Inside the chamber, the boys fuse into Gotenks and begin the battle they were created to fight. This time the power is real, but Gotenks’ habit of treating combat like a performance is still very much alive.
Gotenks escalates against Buu with a catalogue of attacks that sound ridiculous until they start exploding. His Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack turns copies of himself into living bombs, forcing Buu to deal with an opponent whose creativity is almost as difficult as his power. The fight remains dangerous because Gotenks keeps saving his best tricks for dramatic effect.
The Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack appears to blow Buu apart, and Gotenks celebrates before confirming the job is finished. The pieces of Buu simply regenerate, proving once again that destroying his body is not the same as killing him. Piccolo watches the fusion clock and begins considering an option nobody wants: trapping all of them in the Room of Spirit and Time permanently.
Piccolo destroys the chamber doorway after Gotenks pretends he has no power left, hoping to seal Super Buu in another dimension. Buu responds by screaming hard enough to tear a hole through reality and escapes to the Lookout, where he kills everyone waiting outside by turning them into food. Gotenks finally reveals Super Saiyan 3 and tears open his own dimensional exit, returning to Earth furious and almost out of time.
Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks takes control of the fight and turns Buu into a literal volleyball with Piccolo reluctantly joining the routine. The childish attacks are backed by enough power to genuinely hurt the Majin, and for a moment Gotenks looks capable of finishing the job. Then the fusion’s Super Saiyan 3 time runs out before he can deliver the ending he spent too long setting up.
Gotenks’ power collapses just as the situation becomes hopeless, but another fighter finally arrives from the Sacred World of the Kais. Gohan returns with Old Kai’s ritual complete and no transformation needed to access his enormous new strength. He steps between Buu and the children, and the balance of the battle changes the moment Buu realizes this is not the same Gohan he fought earlier.
Gohan fights Super Buu and dominates him completely. The Majin who exterminated humanity and defeated Gotenks can barely land a meaningful attack while Gohan remains calm and in control. It is the strongest Gohan has ever been, but Buu’s intelligence is already turning toward another solution besides winning the fight directly.
Unable to defeat Gohan, Buu triggers an enormous explosion and disappears from everyone’s senses. Gohan, Piccolo and the boys search the devastated area, unsure whether the blast destroyed him or was simply another trick. Buu eventually returns after waiting out the situation, revealing that the apparent retreat was preparation for a plan built around the fusion warrior’s power.
Buu provokes Goten and Trunks into fusing again, then springs the trap he prepared while hiding. He absorbs Gotenks and Piccolo at once, gaining Gotenks’ tremendous power and Piccolo’s intelligence along with a new appearance. The advantage flips instantly, and Gohan is now facing an enemy stronger than he is who also understands exactly how he fights.
Gohan is overwhelmed by the Gotenks-absorbed Buu while the fusion’s thirty-minute limit becomes the only hope keeping the gap from being permanent. In the Sacred World of the Kais, Old Kai gives up his own life so Goku can return to the living world and help. Before Goku leaves, the Potara earrings are offered as the one technique capable of creating a fighter stronger than either Saiyan alone.
Goku returns to Earth carrying the Potara and tries to reach Gohan before Buu can finish him. The plan is simple in theory: each puts on one earring and the two fuse permanently. Buu ruins it by absorbing Gohan before the earrings can be joined, leaving Goku alone against a form of Buu carrying the power of nearly everyone they hoped to save.
Vegeta is temporarily returned from the afterlife and reunites with Goku in the middle of Earth’s worst crisis. He refuses fusion when he first learns what the Potara require, but Goku forces him to confront what Buu has done to Bulma, Trunks and the planet. Vegeta finally accepts the earring, and the two rivals merge into Vegetto.
Vegetto immediately demonstrates why the Potara were worth Vegeta swallowing his pride. Even Buu with Gohan absorbed cannot match the fused Saiyan’s speed, strength or control, while Vegetto deliberately needles him into greater frustration. For the first time since becoming Super Buu, the monster is fighting somebody who can treat his strongest form like a game.
Buu’s rage distorts the world around him, tearing open dimensional fissures as the energy of the absorbed fighters pushes against Vegetto’s overwhelming advantage. Vegetto refuses to let the phenomenon spiral out of control and attacks hard enough to force Buu back into the fight. The fusion is not merely stronger; it is stable enough to manage power that is beginning to damage reality itself.
Buu turns Vegetto into candy, expecting transformation magic to solve the problem strength could not. Instead, the tiny piece of candy keeps Vegetto’s power and beats Buu around the battlefield while being almost impossible to hit. Buu finally changes him back, only to face the same impossible opponent again and become desperate enough to try absorption.
Vegetto deliberately allows Buu to absorb him, surrounding himself with an energy barrier so he will not be integrated like the others. Once inside the Majin, the Potara fusion unexpectedly ends and Goku and Vegeta become separate people again. Their goal is no longer to defeat Buu from the outside but to recover Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Piccolo from within his body.
Goku and Vegeta move through Buu’s bizarre internal world, following traces of the people he absorbed while dealing with the body itself as hostile terrain. They find the others suspended in organic pods rather than fully gone, proving the rescue plan can work. The challenge becomes reaching everyone and escaping before Buu’s internal defenses realize what is happening.
The journey carries Goku and Vegeta into Buu’s mind, where they are confronted by false versions of Gohan, Gotenks and Piccolo created from the Majin’s memories. The illusions force them into fights against people they came inside to save, turning Buu’s head into a literal mind trap. Once they recognize the deception, they continue searching for the real absorbed fighters.
Goku and Vegeta locate the real Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Piccolo and begin cutting them free from Buu’s internal pods. Deeper inside they also find the round Majin Buu, still connected to Super Buu as a separate presence. Vegeta decides to remove him as well despite Goku’s warning that nobody knows what separating Buu from himself will actually do.
Vegeta tears Good Buu free, and the entire interior begins collapsing as Super Buu’s body reacts violently to the loss. Goku and Vegeta gather the rescued fighters and race for an exit while the Majin outside shrinks through a series of older forms. They escape just before the transformation finishes, leaving behind the small original Buu whose lack of restraint is more dangerous than his size suggests.
Kid Buu wastes no time proving what kind of creature he is. He creates an enormous energy ball and destroys Earth outright, killing Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Piccolo and almost everyone else before Goku and Supreme Kai can save more than Vegeta, Dende, Mr. Satan and the unconscious Good Buu. The planet the series spent decades protecting disappears in seconds.
Kid Buu destroys other worlds looking for the fighters who escaped him, then finds Goku and Vegeta in the Sacred World of the Kais. The Kais offer Potara again, but Vegeta destroys his earring and Goku follows, choosing to face the final Majin as individual Saiyans rather than fuse. Kid Buu arrives, and the last battlefield becomes a world built to survive the damage they are about to cause.
Goku takes the first turn against Kid Buu and escalates into Super Saiyan 3 as the fight grows serious. Kid Buu absorbs punishment, regenerates and attacks with the joy of something that has no plan beyond destruction. Goku appears capable of matching him, but the living body using Super Saiyan 3 is burning through energy much faster than it did when Goku was dead.
Vegeta watches Goku fight Kid Buu and finally puts his rivalry into words: Goku became the stronger warrior not because he needed to prove himself, but because he kept fighting to surpass his own limits. The admission does not end Vegeta’s pride; it changes what that pride means. Meanwhile Goku continues forcing Super Saiyan 3 toward a finish his body is becoming less able to deliver.
Goku asks Vegeta to hold Kid Buu for one minute while he gathers enough Super Saiyan 3 power to destroy him completely. Vegeta steps in despite knowing the gap and is beaten nearly to death over and over while the clock crawls forward. The plan fails anyway when Goku discovers that instead of gathering power, his living body has been losing it.
Kid Buu nearly finishes Vegeta, but Mr. Satan’s interference creates just enough confusion to save him. Then Good Buu wakes and attacks his original evil counterpart, giving Goku and Vegeta an ally who can regenerate and keep Kid Buu occupied. The final battle becomes a strange relay between gods, Saiyans, a former villain and the ordinary world champion nobody expected to matter this much.
Vegeta changes the plan completely and asks the Namekians to use Porunga. The first wishes restore Earth and bring back the people killed since the World Martial Arts Tournament, giving the planet its population and fighters again while leaving the truly evil excluded. Vegeta saves the final wish because his real strategy depends on the resurrected Earth doing something its people have never knowingly done before.
Goku begins forming a Genki-Dama from the energy of the restored people of Earth. Vegeta speaks to the planet and asks everyone to raise their hands, but most people do not recognize his voice and refuse to trust a demand coming from the sky. The technique can end Kid Buu, but for once the problem is not Goku producing enough power; it is convincing ordinary people to give it.
The Genki-Dama remains too small until Mr. Satan takes over the appeal. Earth’s population recognizes its champion instantly and raises its hands for him, pouring enough energy into Goku’s attack to create the weapon Vegeta envisioned. Mr. Satan’s reputation was built on a lie about Cell, but in the final crisis that same reputation becomes one of the reasons Earth can actually be saved.
Good Buu and Mr. Satan get Vegeta out of the line of fire, allowing Goku to launch the completed Genki-Dama at Kid Buu. The exhausted Goku cannot overpower Buu’s resistance until Porunga’s final wish restores his strength, letting him turn Super Saiyan and drive the attack through. As Kid Buu disappears, Goku asks that he someday return as a good person so they can meet and fight again.
Earth returns to peace with Good Buu now living under Mr. Satan’s protection. The Dragon Balls are used to erase ordinary people’s memories of Majin Buu so the harmless version can exist without the world hunting him for crimes committed by his other selves. The strangest survivor of the crisis becomes part of the family rather than another enemy waiting for a rematch.
Bulma gathers everyone for a long-overdue party, but Goku is late because he stops to protect a nest of dinosaur eggs from a storm and predators. The episode gives the cast room to simply exist together after years of escalating disasters, with Buu now sitting comfortably among people he once terrified. It is the last quiet stop before the series jumps a decade into the future.
Ten years after Kid Buu’s defeat, Goku is a grandfather and Pan is already showing exactly what kind of family she was born into. The Dragon Team prepares for the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, where Goku is unusually interested in one unknown ten-year-old contestant. That child is Uub, and Goku knows something about him nobody else at the tournament does yet.
Goku maneuvers the tournament draw so he can fight Uub and then deliberately insults the boy until anger pulls out the power hidden inside him. Uub is the human reincarnation of Kid Buu, but he has none of the Majin’s cruelty and almost none of the training needed to understand his own strength. Goku finally finds the raw potential he hoped the reincarnation would carry.
Goku’s match with Uub convinces him that the boy can become far stronger with proper training. He abandons the tournament, takes Uub with him, and promises to teach him while helping his poor village along the way. Dragon Ball Z ends not with Goku settling down as the strongest man alive, but flying toward another training ground with the next great fighter beside him.
