Jukai is the most mysterious member of the Anten Seven, a masked and heavily wrapped assassin who stays close to Hazanko rather than taking an early solo assignment against Gene. The series deliberately gives him less personality than Leilong, Hanmyo or Iraga. His function is to make Hazanko's inner circle feel older and stranger than a normal collection of hired killers. Jukai uses Tao techniques and remains with Hazanko when the surviving Kei Pirates enter the Galactic Leyline. Inside the maze he finally has to fight rather than stand beside his leader, and Aisha becomes the crew member who takes him out. Jukai is not a character with a hidden emotional subplot waiting to be uncovered. He is memorable because the show keeps him visually unreadable until the last stretch, preserving one member of the Anten Seven as an actual unknown quantity.
