Corkus was a former bandit leader who joined Griffith because he wanted a shortcut to high society, representing the pragmatic, self-serving side of mercenary life. While his constant whining and jealousy of Guts made him easy to dislike, his fierce loyalty to the Band of the Hawk was undeniable, making his tragic, illusion-induced end hit surprisingly hard.
