BABIDI

Babidi
BA

Dragon Ball Z · Evil Wizard / Summoner of Buu

A wicked, parasitic alien wizard who inherited his father Bibidi's dark magic. Babidi's primary power is his ability to exploit the hidden malice in the hearts of powerful warriors, placing them under his mind-control "Majin" spell to boost their strength. Despite his frail, insect-like appearance, his manipulative schemes , most notably corrupting Vegeta , directly lead to the resurrection of the ancient terror, Majin Buu.

Babidi

n/a Open →
Babidi does not need a useful battle power. His entire contribution to the chart is making other people's lines worse.

Magic, possession, amplification and manipulation are the mechanic.

Assigning Babidi 800 million because the table looks empty would be exactly the sort of thing an old fan site did.

We are showing restraint. Barely.

Buu Saga · Babidi's Spaceship Level 3 · Result: Stalemate (Interrupted)

Gohan fights Demon King Dabura inside Babidi's ship. Sluggish from seven years of high school without training, Gohan struggles to find his rhythm, dodging Dabura's petrifying spit and darkness magic while Vegeta fumes on the sidelines.
The Breakdown
Highlights Gohan's decline in peaceful times and serves as the catalyst for Vegeta's mid-life crisis. Vegeta's disgust at Gohan's performance leads directly to him accepting Babidi's brand.

The Majin Buu Saga

Episodes 195–291 · Saiyaman → Babidi → Buu → End of Z Open →
Seven years later, DBZ comes back to a world that has actually had time to live without Goku. Gohan goes to school. Goten and Trunks are children in a world where Super Saiyan is already normal. Videl enters the story from completely outside the old combat circle.

Then the tournament pulls everybody back together and the saga steadily loses its mind.
What changed
The last era of DBZ mixes domestic comedy, ancient magic, gods, fusion, the afterlife and planetary destruction without pretending they belong to separate genres. The instability is part of its identity.

Babidi Finds the One Fight Vegeta Still Needs

SPOILER! Open →

Eps 210–231 · Dabura · Stolen energy · Majin Vegeta

Babidi's plan is simple enough: steal enough energy to wake Majin Buu. The interesting part is what he accidentally finds in Vegeta.

The spell does not manufacture Vegeta's resentment. It gives him permission to indulge it. Vegeta wants the old obsession back. He wants Goku without families, children or seven years of change sitting between them.

And after he finally gets the fight he wanted, he realizes none of it fixed anything.
Why it matters
Majin Vegeta works because the possession is not a replacement personality. Babidi finds a weakness Vegeta already knows is there, and Vegeta uses Babidi as an excuse to reopen it.

Majin Curse (Mind Manipulation)

Babidi · Dark Heart Subjugation Open →
Babidi's dark mind-control spell. Targets the latent evil, pride, or greed within a victim's heart, placing them under his telepathic command while granting them a massive power boost (and branding an "M" on their forehead). High-willpower subjects can defy his orders while keeping the power boost.
