The anime finale finally exposes why Miyabi never stopped fighting teachers. Her former teacher Noboru Saitou had an improper relationship with Miyabi's friend Miyuki Yokoyama. Pressure from the education establishment pushed Saitou to deny the relationship, and Miyuki later died by suicide. When Saitou is found stabbed, suspicion falls on Miyabi.
The Breakdown
Onizuka refuses to let the institution bury another student to protect itself. He takes responsibility for the stabbing accusation long enough to force the hidden history into the open. Miyabi finally sees an adult choose the student over his own reputation, which is the exact choice the adults in her past failed to make.
