RYUJI DANMA
RD
Onizuka’s legendary co-leader from their days dominating the Shonan motorcycle gang scene. Now running a legitimate, successful local motorcycle repair shop, Ryuji functions as Onizuka’s absolute civilian reality check, financial lender, and drinking buddy. Whenever Onizuka gets into a massive, career-ending jam—or needs a high-speed getaway vehicle to pull off an illegal psychological stunt for a student—Ryuji is the guy who shows up with the gear. He is the only person alive who can look the terrifying Eikichi in the eye and tell him he’s being an absolute idiot.

BŌSŌZOKU BIKER SUBCULTURE //
Open page →The 1970s–90s Bōsōzoku (Violent Run Tribes)
Open →Originating in post-war Japan, Bōsōzoku were youth motorcycle subcultures famous for customized loud bikes, modified exhaust pipes, driving in formation, and anti-establishment rebellion. By the 1990s, Shonan (Kanagawa) was the undisputed spiritual capital of bōsōzoku rivalry.
Bōsōzoku members wore "Tokko-fuku", heavy boiler suits or jumpsuit jackets embroidered with aggressive kanji slogans, gang crests, and nationalistic poetry. For working-class youth like Onizuka and Ryuji, the Tokko-fuku represented brotherhood, territory, and refusal to conform to white-collar expectations.
While media portrayed bōsōzoku as mere thugs, real-world groups operated under strict internal loyalty, protecting their own members and territory. Onizuka's background gives him a clear moral boundary: he respects youth rebellion, but despises adult corruption and Yakuza exploitation.
ONIZUKA BIKER ORIGINS //
Open page →The Oni-Baku Duo & Shonan Legend
Open →Before becoming a teacher, Eikichi Onizuka was half of the legendary "Oni-Baku" (Demon-Explosion) bōsōzoku duo alongside Ryuji Dan in Shonan. Famed for street brawl dominance, high-speed motorcycle runs, and absolute loyalty, Onizuka's delinquent past gave him an un-shakeable instinct for detecting psychological lies and systemic hypocrisy.
Onizuka's prized possession: a classic, highly tuned Kawasaki ZII (750RS) motorcycle inherited from his youth. His former Oni-Baku partner, Ryuji Dan, operates a motorcycle repair shop in Tokyo, serving as Onizuka's reality check, mechanic, and logistical sanctuary when school politics explode.
