Naruto's mother, a member of the Uzumaki clan whose enormous vitality made her capable of containing the Nine-Tails before her son. Kushina arrives in Shippuden first as a missing piece of Naruto's own history and then becomes one of the people who finally lets him understand what happened on the night he was born. Fierce, funny and emotionally direct, she also reframes the burden Naruto inherited: the seal inside him was born from catastrophe, but the decision surrounding his birth was made by parents desperately trying to give him a life beyond that night.
