Naruto: Shippuden · Major Supporting / Team 7 Leader

Kakashi remains Team 7's teacher, but Shippuden increasingly treats him as one of the Leaf's most dependable field leaders. He has added the Mangekyo Sharingan and Kamui to the enormous technique library that earned him the Copy Ninja name, giving him an answer to threats that ordinary jutsu cannot touch. Kakashi still hides grief and exhaustion behind lateness, bad excuses and his orange book, yet the return of Naruto and Sakura forces him into a different role. They are becoming peers rather than children he can simply protect. His past with Minato, Obito and Rin also becomes central to the war, turning battles that look global from the outside into conflicts tied directly to the choices Kakashi has carried since childhood.

Kakashi Is the Exception That Explains the Rule

SPOILER! Open →

Transplanted Mangekyō · No Uchiha Body · Kamui Costs More to Sustain

Kakashi can use Obito's Mangekyō because the transplanted eye retains its ocular ability, but his body is not naturally built around the Sharingan. The result is a version of Mangekyō use defined by unusually severe chakra cost and limited endurance. During the war, the brief return of both of Obito's Mangekyō and his chakra allows Kakashi to demonstrate what the complete pair can do at a level he could never sustain with the single transplanted eye alone.
Why it matters
Kakashi separates possession of a Mangekyō technique from being an Uchiha. The eye carries the ability, but the body using it still determines how practical that power is.
