ALLEN SCHEZAR SPOILER!

AS

The Vision of Escaflowne · Major Supporting / Knight Caeli of Asturia

A Knight Caeli of Asturia, captain of the Crusade and pilot of the Guymelef Scherazade, Allen is introduced as the polished swordsman Van very much is not. His resemblance to Amano immediately complicates Hitomi's feelings, and Allen's natural charm does nothing to simplify the situation. He trained under Balgus, making him one of Gaea's finest swordsmen, but the controlled exterior hides a family history full of abandonment and loss. Allen's missing sister Celena becomes central to Zaibach's experiments, while his past relationship with Princess Marlene is eventually revealed to have made him Prince Chid's biological father. The romantic knight image is real, but so are the consequences of the life behind it.

Operation Golden Rule of Love

SPOILER! Open →
Zaibach's love experiment targets the emotional triangle around Hitomi, Van and Allen. Van nearly confesses what Hitomi means to him, but he says it badly enough to leave her hurt. Folken's machinery then amplifies coincidence around Hitomi and Allen, putting the right meetings and emotional openings in front of them until the attraction Hitomi already feels becomes the outcome Zaibach wants.

Van arrives in time to see Hitomi and Allen kiss.
What changed
This is the Fate Alteration Machine succeeding in the narrowest sense and failing in the larger one. It creates separation, but not a stable future. Hitomi's later choices come from confronting what she actually feels, not from accepting the relationship Zaibach arranged around her.

Debut: Ep 019 - Operation Golden Rule of Love

Zone of Absolute Fortune

SPOILER! Open →
The Zone of Absolute Fortune is Dornkirk's endgame: a state where the Fate Alteration Machine has enough power to turn desire directly into reality across the battlefield. He expects the result to be a world without uncertainty and conflict. Instead, the soldiers' fear, rivalry and aggression become just as easy to realize as any peaceful wish. Allies begin turning on one another because the machine has removed the distance between impulse and consequence.

Hitomi reaches Van through the chaos and stops him from following the violent future the system has laid out. Van then reaches her and destroys the machine.
Why it matters
Dornkirk finally gets the power he wanted and proves why Atlantis fell. Perfect control of possibility cannot manufacture wisdom. The future changes when people choose differently, not when a machine removes their ability to choose.

Debut: Ep 025 - Zone of Absolute Fortune

Fate Alteration Machine

SPOILER! Open →
The Fate Alteration Machine is Dornkirk's attempt to go beyond predicting destiny and start editing it. Built as a reproduction of the principle behind the Atlantis Machine, it manipulates the circumstances around people so that chosen outcomes become more likely. The important word is likely. Even Zaibach's most elaborate system still has to work through human decisions, accidents and emotion.

Operation Golden Rule of Love is the clearest demonstration. Folken does not magically force Hitomi to love Allen. The machine arranges timing and coincidence around feelings that already exist, trying to separate Hitomi from Van by nudging her toward the easier path.
Why it matters
The system works just well enough to be frightening and fails just often enough to prove Dornkirk's central mistake. People are not pieces that remain obedient after the board is rearranged.

Celena Becomes Dilandau

SPOILER! Open →
Dilandau is not simply an unstable Zaibach officer with a mysterious past. The late-series reveal shows that Zaibach's experiments transformed Allen's kidnapped younger sister, Celena Schezar, into the identity the audience has known as Dilandau. Jajuka knew Celena during the years of experimentation and remains loyal because he remembers the frightened child underneath the commander Zaibach created.

The transformation begins breaking down as the final war approaches. Celena re-emerges, is pulled back into Dilandau, and finally returns after Jajuka dies protecting them.
Why it matters
This is Zaibach's philosophy made personal in the ugliest possible way. The empire does not only move armies and probability. It treats a person's identity as material that can be rewritten for a desired result.
