Simple in motivation, genuinely dangerous in application. What Gluttony actually is underneath the surface, what Father built into him and why it failed, is information the show delivers in one of its more unsettling sequences and reframes him completely. Mustang, Hawkeye, and Ling Yao engaged Gluttony in a dark forest after learning of Maes Hughes' murder. Gluttony attempted to devour the squad, but Mustang utilized the spark ignition from his gloves paired with Hawkeye's sniper cover to isolate Gluttony.
The Breakdown
Mustang repeatedly detonated high-concentration flame blasts directly over Gluttony's body, destroying him over a dozen times until Gluttony's Philosopher's Stone was temporarily drained of regenerative energy, forcing Envy to step in and retreat.
