Kumagami joins Division 2 after Kanuka's return to New York and immediately becomes one of the few people capable of keeping Ohta pointed in roughly the correct direction. Disciplined, highly competent and comfortable acting as Goto's right hand, she jokingly treats herself like the unit's class representative while still fitting naturally into its collection of oddballs. Her one spectacular weakness is the supernatural, which can reduce the otherwise unflappable officer to somebody Hiromi has to carry home. Her earlier time in Hong Kong also gives the Griffon case a painfully personal connection when a man she knew there reappears in Japan under another name.
