SHIGEO SHIBA

Known to everyone as Shige, Sakaki's cheerful second-in-command is the mechanic most likely to understand both the machine in front of him and the ridiculous request Asuma is about to make. He is a gifted Labor technician with a strong grasp of hardware and software, close enough to Division 2 that the pilots routinely drag him into problems well beyond ordinary maintenance. Shige worships Sakaki's old-school skill but represents the generation that can carry that craft into increasingly computerized machines. He also brings exactly the kind of enthusiastic gearhead energy a show about giant police robots deserves.
