A girl who emerges from a rented videotape to comfort Yota after his heartbreak. Because Yota's VCR is damaged, Ai arrives rougher and less perfectly programmed than a Video Girl is supposed to be, and that defect becomes the basis of her individuality. The longer she stays with Yota, the harder it becomes to separate her assigned purpose from feelings that are unmistakably her own.
