The ancient, wise Guardian of Earth who resides in the Lookout high above the clouds. Being the pure, good half split from the evil that created King Piccolo, Kami takes young Goku under his wing for three years of intense mental and physical training prior to the 23rd World Tournament. Entering the tournament disguised as a unassuming human named "Hero" (Shen), Kami attempts to seal away Piccolo Jr. using the Evil Containment Wave to correct his past mistakes.

Kami enters the tournament inside a human body because he believes sealing Piccolo is his responsibility. Piccolo answers the Mafuba with the Reverse Mafuba and turns the Guardian's own solution against him.
The Breakdown
This fight makes the relationship between Kami and Piccolo a practical problem, not just mythology. The old generation's containment strategy fails in public. Goku is left to solve the threat by fighting Piccolo directly instead of putting him back in a bottle.
