KING BRADLEY SPOILER!
KB
Fuhrer of Amestris. Commands with absolute authority, fights with a sword and a dagger and an eye that tracks everything simultaneously. Brotherhood's Bradley is Wrath rather than Pride, and the distinction is everything: he was human once, underwent a process that killed every other candidate, and survived it. He has lived as a human long enough to have genuine human feelings. He chose his wife himself. The question the show poses through him is whether that history makes him more human than the other homunculi or whether it makes what he is worse. His arc in the Promised Day sequence is the series' most conflicted and most honest.
KING THROUGH THE ARCHIVE //
AMESTRIAN MILITARY & ALCHEMY //
Open page →The Führer sits at the top of Amestris' government and armed forces. King Bradley therefore appears to be the final authority even before the audience learns that he is Wrath.
What changed
Once Bradley's identity is known, the Homunculi are no longer a secret organization merely hiding from the government. One of them is the government office every military career ultimately answers to.
BROTHERHOOD COMBAT LEDGER //
Open page →Central Command Main Gate · Absolute Bradley Domination
Returning to Central Command after surviving a train sabotage, King Bradley single-handedly assaulted the heavily fortified front gates held by the Briggs rebellious forces and Captain Buccaneer.
The Breakdown
Armed with a single broadsword and his Ultimate Eye, Bradley sliced through anti-tank artillery shells, detonated incoming grenades in mid-air, dismantled an armored tank with his blade, and cut through dozens of soldiers in seconds without taking a single scratch.
Central Command Courtyard · Scar Decisive Victory
A brutal duel between a critically wounded King Bradley (having survived a train bombing and tank assault) and the Ishvalan avenger Scar. Bradley's Ultimate Eye allowed him to slice through Scar's destruction alchemy with ease.
The Breakdown
Scar revealed he had tattooed his brother's Reconstruction alchemy array onto his left arm in addition to Destruction on his right. Mid-strike, sunlight blinded Bradley's wounded eye, allowing Scar to activate Reconstruction to transmute spike pillars directly through Bradley's arms, fatally disarming him.
Central Command Gates · Tactical Bradley Victory (Fu & Buccaneer Deaths)
King Bradley single-handedly cut through an Amestrian tank and military infantry to reclaim Central Command, engaging Ling Yao (possessing Greed's Ultimate Shield) and the bodyguard Fu in high-speed swordplay.
The Breakdown
Fu attempted a suicide bombing with dynamite, which Bradley sliced away instantly. Captain Buccaneer and Fu managed to mortally wound Bradley at the cost of their lives, creating the single opening Scar needed later.
THE PROMISED DAY //
Open page →Episodes 56–57
The rebels gain ground while believing Bradley is gone, then Wrath walks back into Central and begins retaking the entrance almost by himself.
His return matters strategically and psychologically. The old symbol of government is suddenly alive, visible and capable of making the rebellion look like a failed mutiny.
His return matters strategically and psychologically. The old symbol of government is suddenly alive, visible and capable of making the rebellion look like a failed mutiny.
What changed
The heroes cannot merely expose Father's government. They still have to survive the man who embodies it.
FATHER & HOMUNCULI //
Open page →Bradley begins as a human candidate selected through a brutal program intended to produce Father's ruler. A Philosopher's Stone is injected into him, and one soul survives the struggle inside the body.
Unlike most of the Homunculi, Wrath ages and cannot simply regenerate every wound. His Ultimate Eye instead gives him extraordinary perception in combat, allowing him to read movement and exploit openings with terrifying precision.
Unlike most of the Homunculi, Wrath ages and cannot simply regenerate every wound. His Ultimate Eye instead gives him extraordinary perception in combat, allowing him to read movement and exploit openings with terrifying precision.
Why it matters
Wrath is Father's answer to governing humans: build a ruler who can pass as one of them, age among them and still belong completely to the conspiracy.
STORY & ARC GUIDE //
Open page →Episodes 13–14
Greed has already broken away from Father and built his own group. He wants independence badly enough to oppose the other Homunculi openly.
Bradley's attack on Greed's people then reveals the Führer as Wrath.
Bradley's attack on Greed's people then reveals the Führer as Wrath.
What changed
Two assumptions collapse together: the Homunculi are not one obedient mind, and the government investigating them is already led by one of them.
XING & ALKAHESTRY //
Open page →Fu attacks Bradley knowing the gap between them is enormous and attempts to trade his life for one decisive opening. Bradley counters even the suicide strike, but Buccaneer uses Fu's body and broken weapon as the opening to drive a blade through Bradley.
Why it matters
The scene turns individual sacrifice into cooperation. Fu does not defeat Bradley alone; his commitment becomes useful because somebody else acts through the opening it creates.
