He summons the mythic Monkey King Enma to engage Orochimaru in a brutal close quarters duel atop a roof, sacrificing his remaining physical life force to execute the forbidden Reaper Death Seal to permanently cripple the mastermind's capability.

Orochimaru uses the forbidden Impure World Reincarnation (Edo Tensei) to summon Hashirama and Tobirama Senju. Hiruzen fights his former masters and student simultaneously, deploying Monkey King Enma as a Staff. Realizing he cannot win physically against immortal Hokage bodies, Hiruzen summons the Shinigami via the Reaper Death Seal, trading his soul to seal the First and Second Hokage's souls and stripping away Orochimaru's ability to weave hand signs by ripping his arms' soul essence out.
The Breakdown
The end of the old era. The Third Hokage sacrifices his physical life to protect the Will of Fire, neutralizing Orochimaru's ninjutsu capability and saving the Hidden Leaf from total annihilation.
