A popular student at Nekomi who is used to commanding attention and is deeply irritated by the effortless way Belldandy changes the atmosphere around her. Sayoko becomes collateral damage when Urd's love potion scheme goes wrong at the beach. She is less a true villain than a reminder that Keiichi and Belldandy's unusual relationship still has to exist in an ordinary social world.

Sayoko gets pulled into the mess, Keiichi spends more time reacting to Urd's interference than expressing himself, and Belldandy has to sort out her own feelings amid the confusion.
The scheme fails as manipulation and succeeds as pressure. Once all the artificial pushing falls apart, Belldandy can answer Keiichi honestly.

Why it worked
Not because the potion worked properly. Urd's plan removes the couple's ability to keep pretending nothing is happening, and then Belldandy makes the important choice herself.
