KISAME HOSHIGAKI SPOILER!
KH
Kisame is a former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist and Itachi's long-time partner in the Akatsuki. His enormous chakra reserves, shark-like appearance and living sword Samehada make him one of the organization's most physically overwhelming fighters. Samehada feeds on chakra and can merge with Kisame, while Kisame's Water Style is strong enough to create lakes where none existed before. Beneath the brutality is an unusual loyalty to secrecy and to the idea of a world without lies. When captured after infiltrating the Allied Shinobi Forces through Samehada, Kisame chooses death rather than surrender information. He summons sharks to kill him, protecting the intelligence he gathered even at the cost of his own life.

Open →Mutual Respect · Restraint & Force · Long-Running Partnership
Itachi and Kisame are unusually functional by Akatsuki standards. Kisame respects Itachi's ability and judgment, while Itachi rarely needs to control him through threats or personality management. Their methods are also complementary: Itachi is precise and economical, while Kisame can turn a failed quiet approach into overwhelming force.
Why it worked
Neither man needs the other to become his friend. What they have is professional trust, which is far rarer inside Akatsuki and often more useful.

Kisame tracked Killer B and merged with Samehada to form a giant aquatic dome, exhausting B's chakra reserves in an underwater fight.
The Breakdown
Samehada grew enamored with Killer B's sweet Lightning chakra and betrayed Kisame. Raikage A arrived on the field, coordinating with Killer B to execute a double Lariat that decapitated Kisame's clone decoy (a Zetsu clone engineered to infiltrate the Cloud).
Turtle Island Expedition Saga · Falls of Truth · Guy Victory
Kisame emerged from inside Samehada with stolen intelligence scrolls. Guy intercepted him in mid-air, opening the 7th Gate of Wonder to engage Kisame's Super Shark Bomb.
The Breakdown
Kisame's jutsu absorbs enemy chakra to grow stronger, but Guy's Daytime Tiger (Hirudora) was pure compressed air pressure, not chakra. The physical blast decimated Kisame, leading to his capture and self-feeding suicide to protect Akatsuki secrets.
