The loudmouthed, gigantic, and completely boisterous mechanical samurai who is originally rejected by Kambei for not being a "true" samurai. Kikuchiyo is a former peasant who had his body fully converted into a colossal cyborg shell just to fight. Carrying a massive chainsaw-like sword, he brings a wildly fun, chaotic energy to the squad, but his fierce empathy for the farmers of Kanna Village makes him the absolute emotional heart of the team.

Kikuchiyo is the easiest counterexample. He is a mechanical samurai, but he is not one of the former war machines raiding Kanna.
Why it matters
The metal does not decide the morality. Samurai 7 cares much more about why somebody mechanized themselves and what they choose to do afterward.
Kikuchiyo mechanizes himself because he wants the social and physical power associated with samurai and eventually uses that power to protect farmers.

Why it matters
The same visual idea can represent liberation for one character and domination for another. That is why reducing the machines to a technical spec sheet loses the useful part.
