A silver-haired, skateboard-riding 12-year-old who joins the Hunter Exam purely because he heard it was notoriously difficult and he was bored. In reality, Killua is the elite prodigy of the infamous Zoldyck family of mountain-dwelling assassins, having been subjected to brutal torture, poison immunity training, and psychological conditioning since infancy. Despite his lethal ability to rip out a man's heart in the blink of an eye without breaking a sweat, his relationship with Gon sparks a beautifully tragic desire to escape his family's bloody legacy and just be a normal kid.

Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio don't fight their way into the Zoldyck compound so much as survive it, a house built specifically to kill uninvited guests before they get anywhere near the front door. Silva Zoldyck's brief, almost bored display of force against Gon is the only real combat the arc needs, since it establishes exactly how outmatched everyone in this arc actually is.
