KURAPIKA
KU
A highly educated, fiercely disciplined, and deeply stoic young man who is the sole remaining survivor of the slaughtered Kurta Clan. Driven by a burning, all-consuming desire for vengeance, Kurapika seeks a Hunter License exclusively to hunt down the Phantom Troupe—the elite criminal syndicate that systematically tortured and murdered his entire family to harvest their legendary, glowing "Scarlet Eyes." By the time the Yorknew City arc catches up with him on screen, Kurapika has already rebuilt himself into someone capable of matching the Troupe on their own terms, and the tension of watching that confrontation finally arrive is the emotional spine of the show's final stretch.

Kurapika finally gets his shot at the group that destroyed his clan, and the anime spends its final stretch building toward a confrontation it doesn't get to finish on screen. THE BREAKDOWN: everything from here forward, the Troupe's internal power structure, Kurapika's full chain ability, the auction heist fallout, is mid-motion when the credits roll on episode 62.
THE PHANTOM TROUPE //
Open page →Every scene the Troupe appears in during Yorknew exists in tension with the fact that Kurapika, the last surviving member of the clan they slaughtered for its Scarlet Eyes, is somewhere in the city hunting them specifically. The show treats this less as a subplot than as the actual engine of the entire arc, everything else is happening around a collision that's clearly still building when episode 62 ends.
